Stoppage of the Canal to be from the 2 to 11 May to put in a pair of new bottom gates at the Pike Lock, Eastington.
Chairman and Clerk inspected the footbridge over the Railway near Bristol as a possible replacement for the swing bridge by Hilly Orchard. Mr Croome, the owner or Trustee of the land on the north side was in agreement; Mr Barnard, the owner of the land on the south side, would require some concession regarding the right of road to his house at the upper side of Dudbridge Wharf. The Chairman, Mr Gyde and Mr William Davies to view the site and Mr Barnard’s road and report to the next meeting.

The various accounts, books, and vouchers signed by Mr Sturge the Auditor and certified to be correct were produced and passed.
The Treasurers Book was produced, examined and signed by the Chairman.
[34] The Stoppage of the Canal from the 2^nd to the 11^th of May next for the purpose of having a pair of New bottom gates at the Pike Lock Eastington was agreed to.
[4] The Chairman stated that he had in company with the Clerk inspected the footbridge over the Railway near Bristol with a view to a bridge of that character being adopted in lieu of the Swing bridge by the Hilly Orchard. and the Clerk produced plans of a similar character which he had prepared for a footbridge over the Canal in substitution of the swing bridge. The Chairman also stated that he and Mr Snape had seen Mr Croome as the owner or Trustee of the land on the North side of the bridge who heartily approved of the Suggestion for a footbridge and that they had also seen Mr Barnard as the owner of the land on the South side who demurred to the plan without the Canal Co make him some concession regarding the right of road to his house at the Upper side of Dudbridge wharf. After some discussion it was arranged that the Chairman with Mr Gyde and Mr !^m Davies should vie the locus in quo as well as the Road alluded to by Mr Barnard and report at the next Meeting.
The bill amounting to 11/6 of the Solicitor to the Company was ordered to be paid.
