Clerk reported that the Midland Railway Co had put back the fence to its original position.
Mr Hamilton Mills read the Opinion he had received from Counsel about the T&S Canal. Resolved that the Company join the proposed deputation to the President of the Board of Trade from Lord Bathurst and other owner occupiers of property and traders; and that the Chairman and Sir W H Marling, or failing him, Mr Hooper, represent the Company.
Mr Vizard, Clerk to the Wheatenhurst Highway Board, had written that they would no longer required use of Canal Co land at Stonehouse and Ryeford wharves for breaking stone. Clerk to reply that the notice be considered to expire at Lady Day next, and that, from Lady Day, the charge for the use of a portion of Bristol Road wharf would be £2 p.a.
Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Tuesday the 19^th day of October 1886 @ 3,o,clock pm
Present: Mr E C Little Chairman, Mr C H Hooper, Sir W H Marling, Mr A J M Ball, Mr H H Mills, Mr G H A Beard, Mr E P Little, Mr F Gyde.
The various accounts, books and vouchers Signed by Mr Sturge the Auditor and certified to be correct were produced and passed.
The Treasurers Bo=ok was produced examined and signed by the Chairman.
The Clerk reported that the Midland Railway Company had put back the fence at Stonehouse wharf to its original position.
Mr Hamilton Mills informed the Committee that he has with the approval of the Chairman Submitted a case to Counsel on the subject of the Thames & Severn Canal & that he had received his opinion thereon which he read to the Meeting. The matter was discussed & there upon it was resolved that this Company should join the proposed deputation to the President of the Board of Trade from Lord Bathurst & other owners & occupiers of property and Traders the Chairman and Sir W H Marling should represent this Company and that failing the attendance of the latter Mr Hooper should accompany the Chairman.
A letter was read from Mr Vizard as Clerk to the Wheatenhurst Highway B^d that the Board would not any longer require the ground of the Canal Co at Stonehouse and Ryeford wharves for breaking stone & the Clerk of this Company was instructed to write in reply that the notice would be considered to expire at Lady day next and that from Lady day the charge for the use of a portion of Bristol Road wharf would be £2 per annum.
