"That in the opinion of this Meeting the terms proposed by the letter of the 6^th June 1894 from Mr Mahon to Mr Hubert Wadddy offered reasonable ground for endeavouring to come to a definite arrangement for acquiring and maintaining the Thames & Severn Canal, and that in the interests of the Public, the Navigations and other bodies connected with the traffic to and from such Canal, steps should at once be taken to come to a definite arrangement with the Thames and Severn Canal Company as to the details of the terms of acquisition so that the Canal my be kept open."
"That Mr Southall, Mr Mills, Mr Ainsworth and Mr Hubert Waddy with power to add to their number be appointed a Sub-Committee to negotiate with the Thames & Severn Canal Company as to the details of the terms submitted by them, and to communicate with the Board of Trade as to the mode in which the arrangements can be carried out."
"That, if the result of such communication be satisfactory they draw up a scheme for the consideration of the Allied Navigations."
The Secretary was requested to communicated with the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal Company and also with the Thames Conservancy informing them or the proceedings and asking them for their cordial concurrence.
The Chairman stated that (under the expectation a satisfactory arrangement would be made with the Thames and Severn Canal Co for its acquisition by the Allied Navigations it was desirable and needful that the usual Parliamentary notices should be given for an application to Parliament next Session for the necessary Act before the holding of this Monthly Meeting) he had instructed Mr Hamilton Mills to join the other Navigations in giving such notices, this Company to bear ⅕ of the expense thereof whereupon this action of the Chairman was approved of by the Committee and it was resolved that the Seal of the Company should be affixed to the necessary petition to Parliament to bring in a Bill.
The Sub-Committee consisting of the Chairman, Mr C H Hooper, Sir W H Marling Bart and Mr Hamilton Mills, arranged to meet on Wednesday the 28^th inst at 3pm to settle the list of Tolls and other charges for traffic on the Canal.
