Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Tuesday the 20^th December 1898 @ 3 o'clock pm
Present: Mr C H Hooper Chairman, Mr H Hamilton Mills Solicitor, Mr A B Hooper, Sir W H Marling Bart, Mr E P Little, Mr W J Stanton.
The Clerk reported the completion of the repairs to the Weighbridge at Eastington Wharf, at a total cost of £5..2..11 which Mr Clark, the late Tenant, had, by letter, promised to refund. The main and interior repairs to the house were completed and it was ready for occupation again by Mr Whiting. A letter from his to the Chairman was read asking for some consideration in consequence of his having double Rent to pay to Lady Day and the Clerk was instructed to reply that Fifty shillings would be allowed him, such being about the Equivalent of a quarter's rent of the house.
The repairs ordered to the roof of the "Ship Inn" had been duly completed.
The Clerk reported that he had found the "Mud boat" had gone past the "repair" contemplated by the minute of 1896, and that he had a new one under construction in the Dock at Eastington, in which the iron "Knees" alone of the old one would be utilized.
The "flooring" of the "Walk Bridge", Whitminster will require early repair (having lasted from 1878) - cost about £13.
The Clerk reported that the National Telephone Company had cut the Companys Withy Trees at Ryeford without authority - and that he estimated the injury to the two trees at £2.
New Bottom Gates were reported ready for Dudbridge Top Lock, which may very shortly require to be put in.
The Seal of the Company was affixed to the Agreement with Mr Whiting and Mr Critchley (his guarantor) in respect of the Eastington Coal Wharf.
