Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Tuesday the 18^th day of June 1901 at 3 o'clock pm
Present: Mr H Hamilton Mills Chairman, Sir W H Marling Bart, Mr E P Little, Mr P J Evans, Mr F A Little,, Mr A B Hooper, Mr W Davies, Mr W J Stanton.
A Letter was read from Mr Edward Caruthers Little acknowledging and thanking the Committee for their resolution as to his past services to the Company.
A Letter was red from Mr Gardom Clerk to the Gloucestershire County Council stating that the Council had decided to hold the Thames and Severn Canal Committee Meetings in Gloucester so that the rent of £10 proposed to be charged by the Company for the use of the Offices at Wallbridge would not be payable. Mr Mills was requested to see Mr Gardom and explain that the proposed rent was not only for the use of the offices for holding Committee Meeting but for the daily use of the room for Thames and Severn Canal business and for a mans time in making out tickets for the trade carried out between Stroud and Chalford.
The Clerk reported that he had seen Mr Wilson Assistant Engineer to the Cainscross and Ebley Sewerage Scheme with a view to arranging for the pipes being put under the Canal towards the end of August and that he proposed to take advantage of the stoppage to put in the new gates at the Dudbridge Bottom Lock.
A Letter was red from Mr Chambers Secretary of the Stroud Angling Club asking that a reduction might be made in the charge of 2^s/6 a year for fishing licenses. It was resolved not to reduce the charge and the Clerk was directed to inform Mr Chambers that the Committee could not see their way to make any reduction.
A Letter was read from the Secretary of the Stroud Swimming Club asking that the Club might be allowed to use the basin at Wallbridge for 5 Saturday afternoons in July and August. It was resolved that the application be acceded to on payment of £2..2..0 and on the Club Committee undertaking to be responsible for any damage done.
Mr Mills reported that M^r Heelas Solicitor for Edward Hill had commenced an action for personal injury against Messrs Sibly and Müller and that he M^r Hellas, was prepared to carry on the action provided the Company would undertake to pay his actual out of pocket expenses in the event of Hill's claim being unsuccessful. It was resolved that M^r Hellas be informed that the Company would give the undertaking asked for.
The annual inspection of the Canal was fixed for Monday the 24^th inst for the upper section and for Tuesday the 25^th inst for the lower section.
