[1904 July] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Tuesday the 19^th day of July 1904 @ 3'o'clock p.m
Present: Mr P J Evans Chairman, Mr A J M Ball, Sir W H Marling Bart, Mr F A Little, Mr S S Marling, Mr W Davies, Mr E P Little, Mr F S Whittingham Solicitor in attendance.
[Whitminster Lock] Correspondence with the Engineer of the Gloucester and Berkeley Canal Company was produced and notes of proposed alterations at Whitminster Lock and Pound signed by the Chairman of the Stroudwater Company and confirmed.
[Lodgemore Culvert] The arrangements for the repairs to the Lodgemore Culvert was discussed and the stoppage in connection with the same was postponed till the 30^th inst.
[Mr Barnard. Agreement to pay 5/-] The agreement with Mr Barnard re water pipe over Ebley Bridge for which he is to pay 5^s/ per annum was produced, signed and stamped.
[John Potter to quit Cottage Downfield] The Clerk reported that notice to quit had been given to John Potter in respect of Cottage at Downfield and that he had several applications for same.
[Stroud Gas C^o, use of Canal] A copy of a letter, June 25.04, written in conformity with minute page 2, to the Stroud Gas Company was put in in which attention was called to the facilities the Canal could offer the Gas Company and expressing the hope that more use might be made of the Canal for bringing Retorts, Coal etc to the Gas Works.
[Cainscross Parish Council "Bathing"] The question of Bathing places for Cainscross and District was discussed and the objections raised by owners of property adjacent to the Canal gone into --. Mr Ball & Mr E P Little consented to act as a sub. Committee to arrange if possible with the Cainscross Parish Council and other interested.
[Agreement Mr Bassett to to pay25^s/-] The agreement with Mr Bassett to pay 25^s/- a year for the use of 25 yards of land on Stonehouse Wharf for the storage of petroleum for 12 months ending 24 June 1905 was produced and confirmed.
[Gloucester Harbour Board] An application from the Gloucester Harbour Board for a subscription of £6 to the cost of lighting the River was read and it was agreed to let it stand over for the present.
[Seal Box loss of key] It transpiring that the Box containing the Company's seal could not be opened owing to the loss of the 3^rd key usually in Mr H Mills' keeping it was resolved that the lock should be picked and the seal affixed by Mr Whittingham to the Agreement with the National Telephone Company as to wires under Wallbridge Wharf.
[August meeting] It was resolved that no meeting of the Committee should be held in August next.
[Mr Vick charge for Sheep washing] The Clerk reported that Mr Vick had only paid one half of the charge made for sheep washing in the Canal at Stonepits Bridge and he was instructed to collect the remaining 5^s/-.
[Bicycles on Towing path] A question of the use of Bicycles on Towing Path ---near Stanley--- between Ryeford Bridge and the "Canal Cottages" at Ryeford was raised but ordered to stand over till next meeting.
[Inspection of Canal] It was arranged to have an inspection of the Canal on the 27^th July, Mr E P Little and Mr S S Marling undertaking this duty.
