Summary

Cheltenham and District Billposting Co paid rent to June 1908, also half a guinea towards materials.
Ice Boat repairs cost £11 8s 5d for boat builder’s time, £4 13s for iron plating and bolts. Total £16 1s 5d. Boat built 1878, cost £70. Used in recent frost, 6,11,13 January, and kept canal open for traffic.
Tonnage deficiency of £60 due principally to flooding of Forest Coal pits. Heavy rain in December.
National Telephone Co wished to fix strainers for their poles in towing path between Lodgemore and Gas Works. Excavations six feet deep. Clerk advised Committee not to consent. Path narrow, occupied underneath by large, 18inch, gas mains. No consent but if found practicable Committee would consider it.
Thames & Severn Canal Co tolls to 30 September to be ascertained.
Notice from Mr Ashmead, 24 December 1907, to quit lower part of Wallbridge Warehouse on 25 March.

[1908 Jany] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 15^th day of January 1908 at 4.15 o'clock pm
Present: Mr C H Hooper Chairman, Mr P J Evans, Sir W H Marling Bart, Mr F A Little, Mr W Davies, Mr A J M Ball, Mr E P Little, Mr W J Stanton
Mr Whittingham, Solicitor, in attendance.
[Agreement Cheltenham and District Billposting Co Ltd] The Clerk presented the Agreement with the Cheltenham and District Billposting Company, duly signed by them, and reported that they had paid the Rent to June 24, 1908, also the moiety of the costs of the agreement, half a quinea.
[Ice Boat repairs] The Clerk reported the Ice Boat satisfactorily repaired at a cost of £11..8..5 for Boat builders' time and materials and 4..13,,0 for Iron plating and bolts, Total 16..1..5, This Boat was built in 1878, costing £70. It had been used in the recent frost, three days, viz Jan 6^th, 11^th & 13^th and had kept the Canal open for the traffic.
[Tonnages] The total of tonnages to date shewed a deficiency of some £60, attributable principally to the flooding of the Forest Coal pits during the heavy rains in December.
[National Telephone C^o Strainers in the towing path] The Clerk reported a wish of the National Telephone Company to fix 'strainers' for thier poles _in the toping path_ between Lodgemore and the Gas Works, involving excavations six feet deep. He advised the Company not to consent to this, as that section of the path is not only narrow, but is occupied underneath, by the _large_ (18^in) Gas mains. It was decided to reply that the Committee regretted that they could not agree to it, for the above reason, but that if _at any point_ it is found practicable, they would consider it.
[T&S Canal Balance Sheet] The Clerk produced the A/cs and Balance Sheet of the Thames & Severn Canal for the year ended 30^th September 1907. The amount of tolls received by this Company in respect of through traffic over the Stroudwater Navigation to and from the Thames and Severn Canal for the year ending September 1907 will now be ascertained in compliance with sec 43 of the Thames and Severn Canal Trust Act 1895.
[Mr Ashmead Wallbridge Warehouse notice to quit] The Clerk presented a Notice received from Mr Ashmead dated Dec 24/07 to quit the lower part of the Wallbridge warehouse on March 25/08. It was left to Mr Snape to interview one or two possible tenants, and consult with the Chairman in the interval before the nest meeting of the Committee.
