Summary

Annual inspection of canal on 25 June and 25 August.
Framilode: Record to be marked of height of highest tide, 1889. One void cottage, since let. Warehouse vacant since 1896.
Eastington Yard: All materials for new Hilly Orchard Bridge lying there. Completed 17 August.
Stonehouse Court Farm: Annual payment for right to take water from canal should include right to use piece of land connected with farm yard between boundary stones and water.
Stonehouse Wharf: Rail borne coals placed there by Messrs Ward. Porch desirable at door of dwelling house rented by Messrs Dickinson Prosser & Cox.
Wycliffe College bathing: School much increased. Increase charge of £1?
Trespass by night of donkeys on towpath at Ryeford.
Ebley Swing Bridge: Messrs Marling & Co responsible. Does not open or shut without difficulty. Needs attention.
Mud tip at Stonehouse getting filled up.
Eastington Bridge now indicated by County Council as ‘dangerous corner’.
Premises on Dudbridge Wharf let, including stable and loft, small office and two rooms, with ²/3 of shed to Messrs Holland & Price at 5s per week. To pay £13 p.a.
Question re Notices on Bridges as to motor traffic deferred till next meeting.
Application by Stroud Brewery Co for supply of water to house at Dudbridge. Clerk to interview secretary of company.
Exceptionally high spring tides (17feet 1inch) last week in Severn. Stop gate at Framilode raised seven times. Men now clearing sand and mud from dock.
Fishing in canal without tickets. Two men fined by Magistrates at Whitminster Petty Sessions 13 August.

[1908 Sept] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 16^th day of September 1908 @ 3.15 o'clock pm
Present: Mr C H Hooper Chairman, Mr F S Whittingham, Mr J R M Ball, Mr F A Little, Sir W H Marling Bart, Mr A J M Ball, Mr P J Evans,, Mr S S Marling.
[Survey of Canal Reports read by the Chairman] The Chairman read the reports of the Survey of the Canal undertaken by Messrs Whittingham & Ball (J R) June 25 from _Framilode to Eastington_, by Mr F A Little July 20 from _Stonehouse Court Farm to Wallbridge_, and by himself August 25, from _Stonehouse Ocean to Eastington_. The general condition was reported by _all_ to be good and satisfactory.
The following points were _Specially_ noted: viz '_Framilode_', A record to be marked of the height to which the highest tide (1899) rose. 1 void cottage (since let) 'Warehouse formerly rented by Club - _vacant_ since 1896.
'_Eastington Yard_'. The whole of the materials fo rthe new Hilly Orchard Bridge, were lying there awaiting its erection (completed Aug 17).
[Water from Canal, etc, Stonehouse Court Estate 2/6 per annum (see letter book J page 24)] '_Stonehouse Court Farm_':- Suggestion that the Receipt for annual payment for the right to take water from the canal, should include the right to use the piece of land connected with the farm yard included between the boundary stones and the water, as an acknowledgment of user. (This was confirmed by the Committee and referred to the Solicitors to arrange wording.)
;_Stonehouse Wharf_': _Rail borne_ coals placed there by Messrs Ward. Refer to agreement (none).. _Porch_ desirable at the door of the dwelling house rented by Messrs Dickinson Prosser & Cox (? Tenant _share_ cost).
'_Wicliffe College Bathing'. Agreement of £1..- dated 1883. School much increased, suggestion to increase the charge. Trespass (? by night) of donkeys on _towpath at Ryeford_.

[Stable and Loft Dudbridge Wharf] The Clerk reported having let since last Committee the premises on the Dudbridge Wharf including also, the Stable & Loft, to Messrs Holland & Price, at 5/- p week, from August 3^rd ulton, and they have paid 1 month (£1) from Sept 29, and Agreement to be prepared (at same rate) £13..- p annum. This was referred to the Solicitors.
[Notices on Bridges] A question re 'Notices on Bridges', at to Motor Traffic, raised by a communication from the Canal Association, was deferred until next meeting, after further reference to the Canal Association.
[Stroud Metal C^o] A communication from 'The Stroud Metal Company' as to the continuation of water supply to a house at Dudbridge was deferred, for further correspondence with the Clerk.
[Telephone Rents] The matter of Telephone Rents was again postponed.
[Stroud Brewery Water supply] A application by the Stroud Brewery C^o for a supply of water to a house at Dudbridge was left with the Clerk to interview the Secretary of the Company.
[Tides Framilode] The Clerk reported exceptionally high spring tides last week on the Severn (17' 1") and the stop gate at Framilode raised seven times, me now clearing sand & mud from the Lock.
[Fishing Prosecutions] Fishing in the canal without Tickets had been subject of a prosecution during the last month, and two men were fined by the Magistrates at Whitminster Petty Sessions Aug 13.
[Next Meeting Oct 21 1908] Ordered that the next Committee Meeting be held on Wednesday the 21^st of October next at 3.15pm and the General Half Yearly Meeting on the same day at 3.45pm.
