Present: Philip Jas Evans, Walter J Stanton, S S Marling, F S Whittingham, J R Morton Ball, W H Marling.
[King Edward VII] Before commencing the proceedings the Chairman said it would be considered only becoming to make a brief reference to the sad loss the Nation had sustained by the Death of King Edward - one of the greatest if not the greatest of a long line of Monarchs. A King who was good as well as great, taking a keen personal interest in all that made for the Welfare and happiness of His subjects. He referred to the remarkable unanimity with which the whole civilised world mourned His loss and to the brave and christian resignation which the widowed Queen Mother had shown calling forth the admiration and sympathy of all classes. The new sovereign - he said - had begun their Reign enjoying the confidence of their subjects and the King had already shown proofs of tactfulness and consideration which raised high hopes for the future. He was sure the Committee would be unanimous in wishing King George V a long and prosperous Reign.
