[1911 October] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 18^th day of October 1911 @ 3.30 o'clock pm
Present. Philip Jas Evans, F A Little, Water J Stanton, F S Whittingham, W H Marling.
[Minutes confirmed] The Minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
[Chairmans report] The Chairman reported:-
[Swing Bridge Stonehouse] 1 That he with Mr Snape had met Mr Vowles at the Swing Bridge at Stonehouse and after inspecting it they recommended the strengthening of the Bridge by the addition of longitudinal timbers beneath the cross planking & the replacement of such of the cross planks as are unsafe.
Mr Vowles agreed to pay £5..- towards the cost and not to be relieved of responsibility as to overloading of the Bridge.
[Wharfage Ryeford Wharf] 2 That they had seen Mrs Brunsdon with reference to allowing the use of the Wharf for placing timber wagons, etc (but not Traction Engines) upon and had agreed to do so if Mrs Brunsdon would pay one shilling per week. - Nothing had been heard since from Mrs Brunsdon.
[Cottage Double Locks] 3 That they had visited the Cottage by the Double lock and recommended the Committee to carry out the proposed repairs - which was agreed to.
[Culvert near Walk Bridge] Correspondence with Mr Clifford's Agent & Mr Cullis of the Gloucester & Berkeley Canal was read with regard to the cleaning out of the Culvert under the Canal close to the "Walk Bridge" and liability of the Navigation for the maintenance of this Culvert was fully discussed. Mr Snape was instructed to visit the spot and it was left to Mr Whittingham and the Chairman to deal with after receiving his report.
[Ditch at Newtown] A letter was read from the Wheatenhurst R D C as to a nuisance arising at a ditch into which sewage was being introduced from property not belonging to the Navigation and Mr Whittingham was desired to draft a letter not accepting liability for the removal of the nuisance.
[Thames & Severn Canal] A letter was read from Mr Gardom to the Chairman who had replied that in a year's time when the results of the working of the lower part of the Thames and Severn Canal with a reduced Staff would be known the Navigation might be in a position to make an offer of terms on which to lease the undertaking from the County Council.
[Framilode Pound & Dairy Floor] The Clerk reported that 475 tons of sand & mud had been dredged out of the Framilode pound & that the floor of the Dairy at Mr Pocketts, Framilode had been raised at a cost of £2..10..0 see Mr Boultons a/c (V N^o 110) paid Sep 29/11.
[A/cs] The A/c's for the Half Year were examined & compared with former Half Years and it was agreed to recommend a Divident of 20^s/- per share.
