Gentlemen
I beg leave to inform you I am instructed by the Committee of the S N to charge your a/c8 £8 15s 3d being the amount due to them on 701 Tons Wheat, Coal, &c forwarded by sundry Vessels of yours from Ryeford to Dudbridge between May 9th 1860 & Sept 9th 1861. I must also remind you under the Act of Parliament of the S N the Co can proceed against any who carry coal or goods on their Canal & enforce a Penalty of 40s on every Ton they neglect to give an account to the Collectors of the "Rates and Duties" appointed by the Co.
