[1914 April] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 22^nd day of April 1914 @ 3.30 o'clock pm
Present: Philip Jas Evans, Edward P Little, F S Whittingham, Jack Margetson, A J Morton Ball, W H Marling.
[Committee] The proceedings of the last two meetings, when a quorum of the Committee was not present, were read and sanctioned.
[Telephone Way-leaves] The Clerk reported that the Telephone way-leave charges up to December 31^st 1913 had been paid amounting to £27..13..5.
[A Alder of Ryeford re Claim settled] The Claim of M^r Alder for damage alleged to be caused by leakage from the Canal at Ryeford was passed and the 10^s/- claimed ordered to be paid but it was not to be regarded as a precedent.
[Committee Members thereof] The question of difficulty sometimes arising in getting a quorum of Committee was discussed and it was decided to ask certain Gentlemen if they would come on the Committee.
[Stroud Electric Lighting] No further communication has been received from the promoter of the Stroud Electric Lighting Company.
[Effluent Drain at Dudbridge] The Clerk to the Stroud Urban District Council had written that the Council were willing to accept the Terms offered by the Navigation on Nov 17 last respecting the Effluent drain at Dudbridge.
[Canal Association] A letter from the Canal Association was read suggesting that in view of the successful appeal of the Worcester Corporation against the Sharpness Docks C^o and the necessity for carrying the case to the House of Lords, the contributions of the other Canal Companies should be increased, and the Committee agreed to give another £4..4..0 to the Fund for fighting the case.
[Ryeford Wharf] A letter from Mrs Lewis6s Solicitor was read calling on the Company to repair the "Camp Sheeting" on the side of the Canal at the Anchor Inn Ryeford and the Clerk was instructed to write that it was the duty of the Owners of the said property to repair this.
[Saul Bridge] Messrs Peake & C^o having first claimed that the damage to the Swing Bridge at Saul was not caused by them and subsequently offered 10^s/- towards the 15/- claimed by the Navigation it was decided to insist on the whole charge of 15/- being paid.
[A/cs] The A/cs for the Half Year ending March 31^st last were examined and compared with previous periods and it was decided to recommend a Dividend of 20^s/- per share for the Half Year to be payable May 1^st.
