[1915 Nov] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 17^th day of November 1915 @ 3.30 o'clocl pm
Present: Philip Jas Evans, W^m Davies, Edward P Little, F S Whittingham, A J Morton Ball.
The Chairman reported that he had seen Albert Bassett twice as to his vacating the house on the Wharf and had been in communication on the telephone with Mr Lee (who had taken the house and was waiting for Bassett to get out of it) with the result that Bassett had undertaken to give up possession at Christmas at latest and sooner if he could arrange with present tenant of house he was going to - and that in view of the inconvenience causes to Mr Lee the Company would contribute £5..- towards the cost of the needful painting and papering, etc, of the Wharf-house with which Mr Lee had concurred.
The Manager reported that the Electric Supply Company had carried their wires across the canal at Dudbridge outside the walls of the Bridge and done the work satisfactorily and the agreement with Messrs Edwards & Armstrong was duly sealed and attested by the Chairman and Clerk.
Mr Lee had agreed to rent the stalls and loft adjoining the "Ship Inn" on a yearly tenancy at a rental of 30^S/- per annum subject to 6 months notice entering on same December 25^th next.
Bridge notices under the recent Act of Parliament had been fixed to the Swing Bridge at Whitminster and arrangements had been made to supply and affix a second notices on all Bridges carrying a Public Road.
The repairing of Lodgemore Bridge was discussed and in view of the extremely high prices now asked for pitch pine of the required length width and depth it was thought well to see what could be done by strengthening the existing bridge with iron plates: Mr J H J H King of Newmarket had been asked to advise on this.
Mr Whittingham reported that the draft of Agreement with Mr Winterbotham in re exchange of land at Stonehouse had bee finally completed though only a few points of little importance remained to be settled and the Chairman was empowered to attest the sealing of the Agreement if desired before next meeting of Committee.
IT was agreed that the Dividends receivable on the War Loan Stock should be paid to Lloyd's Bank direct and the form sent for the purpose was filled out to this effect.
It was decided to send £3..0..0 to the Canal Association as the proportionate contribution of this Company to the Expenses of litigation in the Sharpness Dock V Worcester Corporation case.
The Chairman read correspondence he had with Sir Ashton Lister the acting County Surveyor as to the possibility of carrying a larger proportion of the Stone used on the highway - by water.
The Bank balance stood at £267..16..11 as compared with £320..2..7 same date in 1914.
Tonnage to date amounted to £105..14..11 against £125..14..4 this time last year.
