Summary

Weeding commenced at Ocean Bridge, Stonehouse. Necessary gang of four made up by putting on a casual labourer. Whole canal needs weeding very badly. Several months to do it.
L Pockett given consent of Chairman of Control Committee for this district to be tidesman at Framilode.
White had agreed standard wage of 32s per week. Any work as required. Other lock keepers granted same wages.
Iliff, 25s a week from Thames & Severn and 6s a week from Stroudwater Navigation, applied for same advance. Thames & Severn had advanced him 2s a week. Granted 1s a week.
Armitage complained of spoil bank by Eastington being dug into and clay removed without permission and that channel from Coffin Weir to brook choked. Mr Snape to do necessary work. Mr Bloxam to confer with E P Little and draft a reply.
William Timbrell asked to have refusal of Dudbridge Wharf House. Wished to start a coal business there. Granted.
Mr Jack Margetson and Chairman to undertake Annual Inspection of lower section of canal to Stonehouse. Mr F A Little and Mr Bloxam to inspect upper section.
Tonnage £181 2s 4d, 1917 £182 12s 11d.

[1918 June] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 19^th day of June 1918 @ 3.20 o'clock pm
Present: Philip Jas Evans, W^m Davies, W R Bloxam, F A Little, Jack Margetson.
The Manager reported that:
1 Weeding had commenced at Ocean Bridge, Stonehouse and that he had made up the necessary gang of four by putting on a casual labourer. The whole Canal needs weeding very badly and it will take several months to do it.
2 He obtained L Pockett by the consent of the Chairman of the Canal Control Committee for this district and Pockett is now at work as Tidesman at Framilode.
3 White had agreed to the standing wage of 32/- per week and was prepared to do any work on the Canal as required. The other lock-keepers were asking for the same wages and the Committee decided to grant it. Iliff who now has 25/- a week from the Thames & Severn Canal Committee and 6/- a week from the Stroudwater Navigation had applied for some advance (the Thames and Severn Committee having recently advanced him be 2/- a week) and it was agreed to grant him another 1/- a week making 7/- from the Stroudwater and 25/- from the Thames and Severn Canal.
A letter from Mr Arnitage was read in which he complained that the spoil bank at Eastington was being dug into and clay removed without permission and that the Channel from Coffin Weir to the brook was choked. Mr Snape was instructed to do the necessary work and Mr Bloxam was requested after conferring with Mr E P Littel to draft a reply to be send by Mr Snape as to the spoil bank.
William Timbrell had asked to have the refusal of the Dudbridge Wharf House as he wished to start a Coal Business there and it was agreed to grant him this if satisfactory arrangements could be made.
Mr Jack Margetson and the Chairman agreed to undertake the Annual Inspection of the lower section of the Canal as far as Stonehouse and Mr F A Little and Mr Bloxam would inspect the upper section Stonehouse to Stroud at dates to be arranged among themselves during July or August.
The Tonnage to date amounted to £181..2..4 as compared with last year 182..12..11.
The Credit Balance at Bank was £241..17..2 comparing with £260..8..8 this time in 1917,
