[1939 July] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 26^th day of July 1939 @ 4 o'clock pm
Present: W R Bloxam, Henry R Hooper.
There being only two Members of the Committee present there was no quorum but there being some matters requiring immediate attention it was decided to proceed with them subject to confirmation by the next Committee.
Mr Parker's field at Whitminster
The Chairman stated that Mr Perry's fee, £3..3..0, had been paid.
Stroud Metal Company, Water from Canal at Dudbridge
The Clerk was directed to inform Mr Webber of the Metal Company that, the Committee agreed to renting his Company a pipe at £10 per year rent subject to the Companys Agreement, that the Company can not undertake any work, and that any work carried out by him must be under the supervision of the Company's Surveyor.
Messrs Ashmpre, Benson, Pease & Company, Water from Canal at Stonehouse
The Clerk stated that he had heard nothing further from this Company.
Warehouse at Wallbridge, Entrance Steps
It was reported that the steps had been fixe and were satisfactory
Stonehouse Cross Bridge, Repair of roadway
A letter from the County Surveyor was read, the Committee directed that the Solicitors settle a reply for the Clerk to send to the Surveyor.
Stonehouse Wharf, Garage
An application from M^r J Perkins of Stonehouse was considered, and the Clerk was directed to inform him that, the Committee were prepared to accept £5..- rent for one year payable in advance, free from all deductions.
Gas Works Bridge, Replacement
After discussion of estimates for the replacement of this bridge it was decided that a census of traffic using this bridge for the week commencing the 31^st July be taken, afterwards the Chairman to endeavour to get in touch with the Chairman of the Stroud U D Council.
Office Fuel
The Clerk was directed to obtain estimate from Messrs Wood & Rowe and M^r Beard.
Wycliffe College Bathing in Canal at Stonehouse
The Committee directed that the Clerk to inform Mr Toogood that the notice to expire 24^th June 1940 had been accepted.
Letter from the Ministry of Transport - Civil defence Act 1939
It was left to the Chairman to settle a reply.
Next Meeting
Ordered that the next Meeting of the Committee be held on the 16^th day of August @ 4 o'clock pm but that there should be no meeting in September.
