Stroud Urban District Council’s site plan for Dudbridge provided showing huts, proposed lavatories and water tower. The lavatories for staff use only, not public conveniences. The water tower well away from any property.
£200 of 3½% War Bonds sold.
Chimney, roof and spouting being repaired at Lock House, Framilode. Tall chimney on lean-to only to be rebuilt to necessary height.
[1941 Dec] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 17^th day of December 191 @ 3 o'clock pm
Present: W R Bloxam, G A Evans, Henry R Hooper.
There being only three Members of the Committee present there was no quorum but there being some matters requiring immediate attention it was decided to proceed with them subject to confirmation by the next Committee.
Gashouse Bridge: Messrs Mowlem & Coy, Repairs
The Clerk reported that nothing had been done also reported a telephone conversation he had had with the Company. They stated that instructions had been given for the work to be put in hand, and they were under the impression it had been done.
Severn Fishery Board, Weeding Canal
The Clerk reported that a letter, settled by the Chairman, had been sent to the Board. No reply had been received.
Dudbridge Wharf, Stroud U D Council, Requisition
The Clerk reported that in reply to the Company's letter of the 20^th November last the Council had furnished a site plan showing the huts together with the proposed lavatories and water tower. The Councils covering letter, of the 4^th December, stated, that the lavatories are for staff use only, and that there will be no public convenience whatsoever, the water tower will be well away from any property, and not encroach upon the carriageway leading to the furthermost property, and with regard to the parking of cars, care will be take to ensue that no obstruction is caused to the free use of the right of way granted to our tenants.
Saul Bridge, The South Gloucestershire Internal Drainage Board
A letter from the Drainage Board was read stating that the Board were taking the matter up with Pickfords, and that no doubt the Company would be hearing from them or there insurance company. The Clerk reported a telephone conversation, on the 16^th December, he had had with Mr Millard, the Engineer of the Board, from which it appeared that Messrs Pickford's had referred the matter back to the Board. Mr Millard mentioned his letter of the 17^th November last and promised a further letter for the Committee on the 17^th December which had not reached this Office in time for the Meeting.
Dam at Framilode, Pumping
The Clerk reported that a Cheque, £5..5..0, had been sent to the Gloucestershire Corporation, which had been acknowledged.
Banking A/c
The Chairman stated that £200 3½% War Stock had been sold which had produced £207..16..6. A Cheque for that amount had been received through the Company's Solicitors. The Cheque had been passed to the Company's Accout at Lloyd's Bank Ltd, Stroud.
Framilode Property, Reparis
The Clerk reported work in hand at the Lockhouse, Warehouse and Cottages.
Lockhouse: Main chimney and roof repaired, guttering, down spouting repaired, and replaced where necessary, and dangerous chimney on lean-to rebuilt.
Cottages: Rough cast repaired, and roof of porch repaired.
Warehouse: Roof repaired.
This as authorised by the Inspection Committee. It was noted that all the repairs were very necessary. With reference to the tall chimney on the lean-to at the lockhouse the Committee directed that it should be rebuilt to sufficient height only to ensure draught in chimney.
Strachan & Company, Small exhaust pipes on towing path at Lodgemore.
The Committee granted easement subject to the payment of a nominal wayleave rent of 2/6 pa from Michaelmas last.
Hoffman Gloucester Ltd, Agreement
The Chairman reported that draft Agreement had been sent to the Managing Director and read his letter suggesting two separate Agreements. This he had agreed to, and had sent drafts for approval.
Next Meeting
Resolved that the next Meeting of the Committee be held at Wallbridge Office on the 28^th January 1942 at 3 o'clock pm and the General Half Yearly Meeting of the Company on same day at 3.30 o'clock pm
