Summary

Scantling for the repair of Shallow Lock now on site.
Flight Lt Fox had suggested that rather than pay a boat mooring fee per boat, instead an annual fee be paid, half yearly or quarterly. He suggested £50 per annum for the quarter of a mile from the Junction to Walk Bridge. The Company to respond that £22 pa being lost in mooring fees and a further loss of £10 for Angling rights. The Committee welcomed the putting up of notices to prevent the risk of interference with the boats.

[1943 June] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 16^th day of June 1943 @ 3 o'clock pm
Present: W R Bloxam, Henry R Hooper, G A Evans.
There being only three Members of the Committee present there was no quorum but there being some matters requiring immediate attention it was decided to proceed with them subject to confirmation by the next Committee.
Swing Bridges, Repairs
The Clerk reported that the scantling for the Shallow Lock Bridge was on site, that for the Saul Bridge was not yet to hand.
Dudbridge Wharf, Requisition, Rent
The Clerk reported that the Stroud Urban District Council had paid £7..7..11 proportion of £45 annual rent due from teh Council on 25^th March.
M^r Balll's letter
There was nothing to report.
Canal at Framilode, Stop Gate
Reported that the Ministry had not so far replied to the Navigations letter [of the 20^th April 1943].
Wharfhouse at Stonehouse, M^r Palmer tenant
The Clerk reported that M^r Palmer had paid arrears of rent to 25^th March, and a further £1..13..4 towards £5 due in respect to the Quarter ending 24^th June.
Leicester Lovell & Coy Ltd, Water Supply
The Chairman read a letter from Messrs Leicester Lovell & C^oy Ltd, after discussion the Committee instructed the Clerk to inform Messrs Leicester Lovell that under the circumstances the Committee will be prepared to accept an annual rent of £25 payable half yearly in advance subject to the Company's usual form of Agreement to be prepared by its Solicitors at their expense.
Canal at Whitminster, RAF
The Clerk reported an interview he had had with Flight L^t Fox at the Wallbridge Office on the 15^th June. The Committee agreed that Lt Fox be informed that a the number of boats in the Canal and their length of stay is constantly varying, the most satisfactory way of charging would be to fix an annual charge, payable either half yearly or quarterly, and suggested, a charge of £50 p a for the quarter of a mile of waterway from the Junction to Walk Bridge, that it should be pointed out that the Company is losing over £22 a year moorage fees. and will probably lose another £10 paid by the Severn Fishery Board in respect of Angling rights, that if any further length of waterway is required the charge would be at the same rate foe each quarter of a mile. The Committee would welcome the putting up of notices to prevent risk of interference with the boats. The Chairman undertook to settle a letter for the Clerk to sent to Lt Fox.
Severn Fishery Board, Angling in Canal
The Chairman read a letter from the Board. The Clerk was instructed to write giving the names of the Government Departments involved.
Canal at Dudbridge, Lockkeeper Wiggall
The Clerk reported that Wiggall is fixing a notice board at the Bridge. With reference to a deposit of soot on the Wharf the Urban District Councils Surveyor had been notified and would give the matter his attention.
Next Meeting
Resolved that the next Meeting of the Committee be held at Wallbridge Office on Wednesday the 28^th July 1943 @ 3 o'clock pm and the General Half Yearly Meeting @ 3.30 o'clock pm on same day.
