Sir
It had been reported that you did on the 5^th November last wilfully run your boat "Fides" into the bottom gates of the Whitminster or Shallow Lock, thereby making yourself liable to a fine of £5 & not less than £2. I am instructed to inform you that you are fined 10/- for the offence and if not immediately paid a summons will at once be taken out and the full penalty pressed for.
