Verbatim text

At a Special Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Walbridge on Friday the 11^th day of May 1838
Present: M^r Cosham, M^r Jos^h Fisher, M^r Sam^l Fisher, M^r H Beard, M^R P H Fisher, M^r Hughes.
M^r Hawker represented That he wrote a letter to Mess^rs Isaac Marshall & Son of Birmingham on the subject of the Crane as directed, and produced their reply; from which it appears that it would be more desirable for them to furnish the whole Crane. Joseph Small also attended and confirmed that view of it, offering to withdraw his Estimate and abandon his Contract for the Crane, but wishing to be employed to put up the Crane.
Ordered that he be allowed to abandon the Contract, which he did accordingly.
Ordered that our Clerk do apply to Mess^rs Marshall & Son to know the lowest terms on which they would supply the Crane Complete, delivered to Dudbridge Ready to be put up, the timber work whereof to be of the best seasoned oak (they being in possession of the Models of the intended Crane) and that a Committee meeting be called to take their reply into consideration.
