Special Meeting. Tonnage on stone reduced to 1s per ton on stone carried from Wallbridge Wharf, or intermediate places to Bristol Road Wharf, to G&B Canal or the Severn. Wharfage and cranage of stone 3d per ton on blocks not exceeding 2 tons.
12 pair of blocks of cast iron to be fitted to lower lock gates to prevent injury by violent striking of boats or barges.
Auctioneer to sell rods or poles on 17 November.
John Burbidge to be paid £10.
At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Walbridge on Tuesday the 13^th day of November 1838
Present: M^r Cosham, M^r P H Fisher, M^r Sam^l Fisher, M^r Wyatt, M^r Hughes, M^r Jos Fisher.
The Committee assembled having considered the probable increase of trafic on the Stroudwater Navigation, by affording encouragement to the sending of Stone down the same:_
Ordered that the Tonnage be reduced to the Sum of one shilling per Ton on all Stone carried on the Canal, from Walbridge wharf, or from any intermediate place between that and Bristol Road Wharf, to the Gloucester & Berkeley Canal or to the Severn:
And that the Wharfage & Cranage in respect to Stone, be fixed at the Sum of Three pence per Ton for all blocks of Stone not exceeding two Tons in weight.
Ordered that 12 pairs of blocks of Cast Iron be procured and fitted to the lower lock Gates on the Canal, for preventing injury or damage by the violent striking of boats or barges against the same.
Ordered that an Auction be employed to sell the Rods or Poles mentioned in the order of the Committee of the 17^th Ulto^o, notice having been given in conformity with that order, & which notice has expired.
Ordered that our Clerk do pay to our Servant John Burbidge the Sum of Ten pounds, above what is due to him for Salary.
