Summary

Special General Assembly of Proprietors. Mr Martin proposed and Mr Hughes seconded election of Mr Edward Wood Mason of Painswick for office of Clerk at salary of £120. To be appointed at time fixed by committee.
Committee to review who should be clerk at Framilode.
Points respecting title to shares, mode of transfer, right of survivorship in case of joint ownership and giving of new ticket to be reviewed by counsel, conveyencer or equity barrister.

At a Special General Assembly of the Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Walbridge on Monday the 13^th Day of July 1840

M^r Cosham, M^r P H Fisher, M^r Drew, M^r Sam^l Fisher, M^r Jn^o Stanton, M^r Charles Beard, M^r Holbrow, M^r John Beard, M^r Wyatt, M^r T C Croome, M^r Jos Fisher, M^r Martin.
The whole list of applicants for the Office of Clerk to the Navigation, as advertized, being read and (?) on, M^r Martin proposed and M^r Hughes seconded the election of M^r Edward Wood Mason of Painswich for the office of Clerk, he being one of the applicants.
Resolved That M^r Edward Wood Mason be elected the Clerk accordingly, at the Salary of £120 per Ann. payable quarterly, to commence at a time to be fixed by the Committee, who shall make the requisite arrangement respecting a residence, the Amount and names of Sureties, period of Notice of quitting the Service of the Company, and all such other stipulations as shall be deemed requisite.
Referring to the resolution of the last General Half Yearly Meeting relative to the removal of John Burbage to the Clerkship at Framilode in the room of M^r Purcell,
Ordered that the appointment of a person to fill the Office of Clerk at Framilode be, notwithstanding, committed to the discretion of the Committee.
Ordered that M^r Mason be informed of his Election, & that the Testimonials of the other applicants be returned free of postage, with an intimation that the Choice has fallen on some other person.
Ordered that a Committee Meeting be held at the Walbridge Wharf on board the Barge, & proceed to a voyage of Inspection to start at 8 o'clock a.m and that M^r Mason be requested to attend on that day.

Sundry points respecting the Title to the Shares, the mode of Transfer, the right of ownership in case of joint ownership, the giving of New Ticket and other matters having been mentioned as requiring information for the Government of the Committee:-
Ordered that a Case be stated for some Counsel, Conveyancer or Equity Barrister for his opinion in the above subjects and such other points of doubt or difficulty as to the Shares, as the Solicitors may be seem meet.
This resolution having passed after the above signatures, but prior to the separation of the Meeting:_ Ordered that the same be signed by the Chairman in token thereof.
