Summary

Annual inspection on the Company’s Barge.
Messrs Fisher reported that they have written to Messrs Marling. Mr Marling attending the meeting, it was proposed that water could be taken from Ebley feeder when water was passing over the mill weir.
Dudbridge and Stonehouse bridges to be repaired.
New pair of upper gates at 5 Locks.
Cargo of oak slabs to be purchased at Chepstow.
At culvert below Lockham Bridge, mud and rushes opposite Mrs Hawkins withy bed to be dug out. Basham to remove rushes and other accumulations at upper side of aqueduct near Lockham Bridge.
Gloucester & Berkeley Canal Co to be requested to clear canal so that gates at Whitminster Lock can be opened and shut.
Warehouse at Framilode to be repaired, and brick wall near cottages to be rebuilt.

At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held on board the Company's Barge on Thursday the 6^th Day of August 1840
Present: M^r Hughes, P H Fisher, Jos F Fisher, Sam Fisher, M^r Cosham, M^r Martin, M^r Jn^o Stanton, M^r Wyatt, M^r Croome, M^r Beard.
The Committee saild from Walbridge to Framilode on a Tour of Inspection.
Mess^rs Fishers reported that thy has written a letter to Mess^rs Tho^s & S S Marling in reply to theirs as directed by the last Committee meeting (a copy whereof is in the Company's letter book)-:
A letter for Mess^rs Marling to the Committee produced & read, and Mess^rs Marling attended & confrerred with the Committee on the taking of water at the Ebley feeder, when they suggested (amongst other things) that if an opportunity were afforded to them, the water of the Stream might be throne into the Navigation at the feeder, when otherwise it would be wasted by passing over their Mill Weir. Orderd as follows, viz;
Dudbridge Bridge to be repaired forthwith.
Stonehouse do to be repaired.
A New pasi of upper Lock Gates at the 5 Locks be put in.
A Cargo of Oak Slabs be purchased at Chepstow.
At the Culvert below Lockham bridge Ordered that the Mud & Rushes opposite M^rs Hawkins Withy bed be digged out, which have accumulated as to narrow the Canal.
Why did the G&B Canal Comp^y lay the Mud in their Level near the above spot? it has fallen into the Canal!
Ordered that Basham do remove the Rushes & other accumulations at the upper side of the Aqueduct near Lockham Bridge.
Ordered that the G&B Canal Comp^y be requested to clear the Canal of Mud so that the Gates at the Whitminster Lock can be opened and shut.
Ordered that the Warehouse at Framilode be repaired, & the Brick Wall near the Cottages there be also rebuilt.
