Special Meeting. George James Luke Noble and James Padmore Noble claimed shares nos.181,182,183, wills of Elizabeth Noble and Jane Noble, Taunton.
Proposal to give old part of canal and towing paths above and below Junction to Company of Proprietors of Gloucester & Berkeley Canal, ¾ of an acre, in lieu of piece of land on western side near Junction, about ½ an acre.
Captain Glegram’s report read. Letter to be sent thanking him for the report.
At a Special Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Walbridge on Friday the 16 day of July 1841
Present: M^r John Holbrow, M^r Joseph Fisher, M^r Richard Martin, M^r John Stanton, M^r George Wathen, M^r Frederick Eycott, M^r Henry Beard, M^r Tho C Croome.
George Wathen of the Grange in the Parish of Painswich in the County of Gloucester Gentleman attended on Behalf of George James Luke Noble and James Padmore Noble the Executors named in the last Will and Testament of Elizabeth Noble late of Taunton in the County of Somerset Spinster deceased who was the Executrix named in the last Will and Testament of Jane Noble late of Taunton aforesaid Spinster deceased and which said will of the said Elizabeth Noble is dated the twentieth day of May one thousand eight hundred and forty and the will of the said Jane Nobel is dated the twenty eighth day of January one thousand eight hundred and thirty five and made out their Claim to three Shares N^o 181, 182 and 183, in the Undertaking called the Stroudwater Navigation standing in the name of the said Jane Noble and Elizabeth Noble deceased, he having this day produced the Probate of the Wills of the said Jane Noble and Elizabeth Noble deceased under the Seal of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury respectively dated the twenty eighth of July one thousand eight hundred and forty and the fifth day of June one thousand eight hundred and forty one and the Claim of the said George James Luke Noble and James Padmore Noble to the said three Shares was admitted accordingly.
It was proposed at this meeting to give the old Part of the Canal and the Towing Paths above and below the Junction to the Company of Proprietors of the Gloucester and Berkeley Canal containing about three quarters of an acre in lieu of a Piece of land belonging to the Gloucester and Berkeley Canal on the western side near the Junction about half and acre and that a letter to the above Effect be written to the Clerk of the Gloucester and Berkeley Canal Company making the above Proposition.
Captain Clegrams report of the several matters relating to the Canal was read. The Consideration of the Report was deferred till the next Meeting of the Committee.
That a letter be written to Captain Clegram thanking him for his clear able and intelligent Report of the several matters submitted to him.
