M^r Wathen in the Chair.
This meeting being convened for the purpose of receiving a proposal from Raymond Cripps respecting the building the Railway Bridge over the Canal at Stonehouse.
M^r Cripps attended with a view to obtain our consent to the stopping of the Navigation on different terms as to penalty from those determined in the Act of Parliament viz by our accepting a lower sum per 24 Hours.
When after considering the proposal it appeared to this Committee that we could not stop the Canal o terms, without the probability of increasing damage to the Traders when trafic and use of the Navigation as a Highway, should be hindered thereby; and further that no lower terms than £50 per 24 hours can be agreed to without the consent of every Proprietor of the Navigation who is interested in the penalty mentioned in the Act.
Resolved that M^r Cripps be informed that the Committee cannot entertain his proposal and he was informed thereof accordingly.
