At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Monday the 18th day of November 1844
Present: M^r Jn^o Gurney, W^m Fryer, Jn^o Stanton, Jn^o Holbrow, Rich^d Martin Chairmand, Dan^l Watts, G H A Beard, W^m J Wood, Geo Wathen.
M^r Holbrow reported that he had delivered M^r Sherwood's Bond to M^r Wathen duly executed.
Ordered that it should be given to the Treasurer.
M^r Gurney reported that Musty had gone out of the house at the Double Lock.
Ordered that Will^m Daniels be admitted to live in the Dwelling house at the Double Lock and that he shall live there so long as he continues Lock keeper to the Company.
Ordered that the piece of Oak belonging to Ja^s Ravenhill now lying at the Wharf at Stonehouse be taken by the Company in lieu of the £2 due from him for Rent.
Ordered that the Drawback allowed on Coals entering the Stroud Canal at Framilode and carried to Gloucester be extended to Stone which shall enter the Stroud Canal at Framilode and thence be carried into the Gloucester and Berkeley Canal and also to Coal, Stone and other articles entering the Stroud Canal and carried on the Glocester and Berkeley Canal to Cam or other places between the Junction and Sharpness Point.
Ordered that a letter be sent to the Chairman of the Severn and Wye Railway and Canal Company under cover to Tho^s Shearsby Esq^r of Lydney similar to the one sent to the Forest of Dean Railway Company.
M^r Fryer reported that he and M^r Watts had seen Fred^k Nurse on the subject of the Wharf at Dudbridge and they recommended an alteration to the present road thro' the Wharf.
Ordered that the subject be again referred to M^r Fryer and M^r Watts to carry out such alteration.
A letter having been received from the Glocester and Berkeley Canal Company regarding the raising of the Vessel suns in Whitminster Level,
Ordered that the answer now produced be sent to such Company -- see [[g-9-2-173-2 Letter Book Nov 20th 1844]].
That it be submitted to M^r Fryer and M^r Gurney to inspect the Bye Laws previously to having them printed.
M^r Geo Wathen having take M^r Cowlings Opinion respecting the Vacancies in the Committee,
Ordered that the Expense thereof be included in his bill.
That the appointment of an Auditor to the Company be deferred until the next Meeting.
That James Nurse be allowed to pay Five pounds a year landing Coals on Dudbridge Wharf instead of paying Wharfage.
That our Clerk do take the proper steps for registering this Company under the recent Act of Parliament.
That our Clerk do write to Charles Clutterbuck concerning the Fraud committed by him some time as reported by M^r Sherwood.
That our Clerk do write W^m Close and tell him to remove his boat without delay.
Ordered that M^r Sherwood be empowered to purchase a Boat for carrying Mud and Gravel.
