[1923 May] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 16^th day of May 1923 @ 3 o'clock pm
Present: Jack Margeston, Henry R Hooper F A Little, W R Bloxam, R J C Little, Edward Little, S S Marling.
Re Bristol Road Lock, the Chairman reported that he had written to Messrs Ward & Sons Ltd, in the terms of the minute of last Meeting and then read their reply.
As the correspondence made it evident that a friendly arrangement was unlikely, it was Resolved that the matter be placed in the hands of the Companys Solicitors to take such action as they should think desirable.
Re Stonehouse Swing Bridge, Messrs Vowles & Sons Ltd had written to say that they had not yet made an inspection of the bridge.
A letter from Mr E J Gardom in reply to the Chairmans letters respecting the silted condition of the Thames & Severn Canal was read as follows:

3^rd May 1923
Dear Sir,
_Dredging of Thames & Severn Canal_
I laid before my Canal Committee at their Meeting on the 25^th ulto, the Correspondence in this matter and I was instructed to inform you that my Committee consider it is unnecessary to undertake the work suggested by the Stroudwater Navigation, and that the cost of the work would be a prohibition. There is no difficulty in accomodating the Barges which generally use the Canal.
The "Perseverance" is a Barge carrying 50 tons.

It was decided to pay the Contribution of £150 re Thames and Severn Canal payable to the Gloucestershire County Council under the Thames & Severn Canal Trust Act 1895.
The Clerk reported that Bassett the Companys Lockkeeper at Dudbridge had sustained an injury when at work and that the Insurance C^o had been informed. It was decided to allow Bassett half wages until next Meeting.
An application from Mr T M Sibly for a special rate for his Motor boat on the Canal was considered and the Clerk was instructed to see Mr Sibly and to inform him that the Committee could not see their way to make any reduction in the usual charge.
William Richard Bloxam of Stroud in the County of Gloucester, Solicitor attended under a written authority from Mabel Bonsall Walker of 93 Victoria Road Aldershot in the County of Southampton the sole Executrix of the Will of Frederica Frances Wood late of 93 Victoria Road Aldershot in the said County of Southampton, Widow, who died on the 13^th day of December 1933 at 93 Victoria Road Aldershot aforesaid and made out her claim to two shares numbered respectively of the Undertaking of the Stroudwater Navigation and now standing in the name of the said Frederica Frances Wood aforesaid in the Books of the said Company by producing the tickets or titles to the said two shares and the probate of the Will of the said Frederica Frances Wood the said Will bearing date the 17^th August 1917 and proved by the said Executrix in the Principal Probate Registry of His Majesty's High Court of Justice on the 6^th day of February 1923 and the claim was admitted accordingly and new tickets or titles ordered to be made out on the tickets or titles of the said Frederica Frances Wood being delivered up.
The Tonnage for the period 1^st January to 15^th May was £225..5..9 comparing with £439..15..9 last year and £417..15..10 in 1914.
The balance at the Bank was £131..19..4 against £233..11..2 last year and £264..18..11 in 1914.
