[1923 Dec] Committee Meeting held at Wallbridge on Friday the 7^th day of December 1923 @ 3 o'clock pm
Present: Jack Margetson, Edward P Little, F A Little, W R Bloxam, Henry R Hooper, R J C Little.
[Swing Bridges] _Traffic over Canal Swing Bridges in the area of the Wheatenhurst Rural District Council_
As Mr Hooper had not had time to visit these bridges the consideration of the matter was postponed.
[Pike Bridge] _Pike Bridge at Eastington and Bristol Road Bridge_
A letter from the County Surveyor re Pike Bridge and Bristol Road Bridge and a plan (put in by the County Surveyor) of the proposed improvement of the bridge at Bristol Road was discussed.
The Committee decided to await Mr Gardom's reply to the letter sent to the County Surveyor by the Company's Solicitors in October last before doing anything further in the matter. The Chairman undertook to write Mr Gardom to this effec.
[Wharf at Eastington] _Eastington Wharf - Mr Whiting_
In accordance with the minute of last Meeting Mr Z Whiting had been given notice to deliver up the premises at Eastington on Lady-day next.
He had also been requested to repair the fence on the road side of the Wharf.
[Wharf at Stonehouse] _Stonehouse Wharf - County Council_
A letter from the County Surveyor was read in which he stated that he was taking steps to reduce the risk of contamination of the water in the Canal as much as possible. The Clerk was instructed to give this matter future attention.
[Yard at Eastington] _Walnut Tree at Eastington_
The Clerk reported that the Chalford Wood Worker's C^o Ltd had agreed to take all risks of felling and clearing and to pay cash before removing.
[Trees at Newtown] _Trees at Newtown - Mr G de L'Isle Bush_
The consideration of this matter was postponed.
[Post Office Telephones] _Aerial Stays over Canal - Post Office Telephones_
The Committee agreed to the request of the Department for aerial stay wires over the Canal at Lodgemore and Fromhall.
[River Frome] _River Frome, Lower Level_
The Clerk reported that he had as requested by the Surveyor removed a little more of the bank of the River against the Withy bed at the Junction.
The consideration of the Company's liability in this matter was postponed, the Clerk to ascertain how far the jurisdiction of the Commissioner of Sewers extends to the Company.
{Stroud Hospital] _Stroud Hospital_
The payment of the annual subscription of £2..2..0 to the above Institution was postponed in view of the financial position of the Company.
[Thames & Severn Canal] _Thames & Severn Canal_
A letter from the Gloucestershire County Council was put in with regard to the position of above. The Committee ordered that the letter should lie on the table.
[Next Meeting] _Next Meeting_
It was Ordered that the next Meeting be fixed for the 23^rd day of January 1924 @ 3 o'clock pm and the General Half Yearly Meeting to be held at 3..30 on same date.
