It should be noted that in October 1802 the T&S Canal Company decided to cease trading as shippers over the coming year. They made agreements for other traders to hire their boats for 1803 to undertake the bulk of the commercial trading, with the aim of ceasing trading altogether in 1804. They did, however, retain their coal trading business, with wharfs at Lechlade and Abingdon, though Lechlade Wharf was sold to another trader in 1804.
