At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Monday the 17th day of November 1845
Present: M^r Fryer, Chairman, Jn^o Holbrow, G H A Beard, Dan Watts, Fred^k Eycott, Rich^d Martin, W J Wood, Geo Wathen.
M^r George Wathen of the Lower Grange in the parish of Painswick in the County of Glocester attended on the part of Mess^rs Thomas John and William Salt of Russel Square and Lombard Street in the City of London acting Executors named and appointed in and by the last Will and Testament of the late John Stevenson Salt late of Russell Square and Lombard Street in the City of London Esquire deceased, and made out their claim to one Share N^o 56 in the Stroudwater Navigation lately belonging and now standing in the name of the said John Stevenson Salt in the Books of the Company of the Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation, by producing the Probate of the Will of the said John Stevenson Salt bearing date the 29th day of April 1839 whereby the said John Stevenson Salt appointed the said Thomas John and William Salt Executors and Sarah Salt Executrix of the said Will, and which was proved by the said Executors the said Thomas John and William Salt in the Prerogative Court of the Archbishop of Canterbury on the 13th day of September 1845 and by producing and leaving with the Clerk a written authority under the Hands of the said Thomas John and William Salt to the said George Wathen to make the claim on their part and their claim to the said Share is hereby allowed accordingly.
M^r Martin reported that he had made enquiries respecting the liability of this Company to repair the Fences to the approaches to the Bridges at Whitminster and Saul and although it does not appear that this Company is liable, yet as serious accidents may occur, it seems desirable that some security should be afforded to the Public.
Ordered that our Surveyor do immediately proceed to repair the said Fences under protest to be given to the Surveyors of the Highways of the respective parishes above mentioned.
Our Surveyor reports that the Spouts at the Ship Inn at Wallbridge are out of repair.
Ordered that our Surveyor do get the same put in good repair and that the iron spouting now at Framilode and intended for the Warehouse at that place be used in part for such repair.
George Williams of Framilode having made application for certain repairs to be made at his house,
Ordered that our Surveyor do ascertain what repairs he requires and the amount of expense attending the same;
Ordered that 3 dozen Port Wine by ordered of Mess^rs Martin & C^o.
Ordered that the following Bills be paid.
