Calculation of time required to fill Mill Ponds
October 1, 1775 Mr Cooks Millpond was drawn out and fill'd by the regular Current of the River within 10 Minutes.
A Calculation of the time each mill pond will take in filling according to the proportion of their length and Breadth: Furlongs long: Hours Mins Sec
The length of Lodgmoor pen or Millpond, from hence to Wallbridge 1½ furlong
and from then up to the Painswick Water, but is not more than half ? 1½ furlong

Froomhall Mill pond wide, length (1 furlong by ¼ furlong) 0 hours 5 minutes 0 seconds
Dudbridge Mill pond, Mr Chance wide: 3¼ furlongs
The back brook round Froomhall: 1½ furlongs
4¾ furlongs, 0 hours 15 minutes 0 seconds
At Dudbridge the Woodchester Water joins, & is more than half Mr Chances Water, therefore equal to the Extra breadth of that Millpond below, to Ebley which is 2¾ furlongs, 0 hours 10 minutes 0 seconds
Oil Mill pond very Wide: 2½ furlongs
The back brook round Ebly mill & to the Wear, many Shalllows: 1¾ furlongs
4¼ furlongs, 0 hours 15 minutes 0 seconds
The Water divides at 1¾ Furlongs below the Oil mill, near ⅔ runs to Ryford Mill which is nearest the line of the Cana & is in the same proportion narrower than the above two Mill ponds: 4¼ furlongs, 0 hours 15 minutes 0 seconds
Sandford Mill pond, & other wider & clearer than the above: 4 furlongs, 0 hours 15 minutes 0 seconds
Bridgend Mill pond: 1¼ furlongs, 0 hours 5 minutes 0 seconds
Arundels Mill pond Mr Hill: 2 furlongs
The back brook at Bridgend: ¼ furlong
2¼ furlongs, 0 hours 10 minutes 0 seconds
Bonds Mill pond: 4¼ furlongs
The back brook round Bonds mill: 1 furlong
5½ furlongs, 0 hours 18 minutes 0 seconds
Below the above mill Stanley water joins, & becomes with a few additional springs, somewhat more than at Ebly mill. The breadth & depth of the River is proportion. It runs shallow till past ? Wear, when it enters within Froombridge pen & is in length from the Wear to Froombridge: 4¼ furlongs, 0 hours 20 minutes 0 seconds
Whitminster Mill pond wide and deep throughout: 10 furlongs
Round Froombridge mill: ¼ fulong
10¼ furlongs, 1 hours 0 minutes 0 seconds

Framiload Tin Mill pond is not so wide, has only 18 square Inches of Water ? the waste water, therefore is irregular according to the imployment of Whitminster Miller. The time in filling it is various: 8½ furlongs
