BYE LAW
Made at a General Meeting 26th October, 1780,

For Regulating Vessels passing on the Canal.

II. WHEREAS, at a Meeting of the Committee held
the 21st instant, it was Ordered, That no Vessel be
permitted to pass any of the Locks on Sundays, nor
on any other days before Sunrise nor after Sunset, and
not exceeding half-an-hour after sunset, on any emer-
gency whatsoever. We do hereby confirm such Order,
And RESOLVE that all Bargemen and others offending
against this our resolution, shall for every such Offence
Forfeit and Pay the Sum of Five Pounds, to be levied
as the Act directs. AND we do further Order that a
Duplicate of this our Resolution be made out and
signed with our Seal and Recorded among our Pro-
ceedings for Making, Compleating, Supporting, and
Maintaining the Stroudwater Navigation.

BYE LAW
Made 9th April, 1782,

Relative to Dropping the Cloughs of the Locks, and
Drawing the same.

III. WE DO HEREBY RESOLVE, that all Bargemen or
others passing the Locks on the Stroudwater Navi-
gation, who shall at any time hereafter drop the
Cloughs of any of the said Locks, without gradually
lowering the same, or shall draw the said Cloughs at
any time before the Gates are shut together, shall for
every such Offence forfeit and pay on conviction, any
Sum not exceeding Five Pounds, at the discretion of
the Justices before whom such Conviction shall be
made. AND WE do hereby Order that a Duplicate of
this Bye Law be made out and our Seal affixed to
the same and Recorded among our Proceedings for
Making, Compleating, Supporting, and Maintaining
