Gentlemen
Mr Waring stated to the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation on Monday last that the Crane would be ready for use by the following Monday that is the 28th Inst and I have so informed Mr Clayton of Birmingham who wrote to know when he might send some boats to ship his timber which is lying on Dudbridge Wharf and I have so stated to various persons who are extremely inconvenienced by the delay.
I am sorry to see the Cast (Stones?) are not brought or the Chain; I must require you to send your me tomorrow for if the Crane is not ready for use on Monday next, you will be called upon to bear any loss or expense to Company may sustain.
