July 13th 1847
Gentlemen
The length of the Chain for drawing the Timber under the Crane by use of the Pully you are preparing, must be about 35 feet of ½ inch iron short in the Links, similar to the one belonging to you which you left in the Warehouse at Dudbridge and we should be glad to have it as soon as possible with the pully, as it will not be of any use without the latter..
No Timber has been allowed to be dragged by the use of the Crane, nor will be until the Chain and pully are ready.
