Summary

Mr Cambridge asked about land around his mill pond if the canal crosses it.
Framilode Lock to be secured by piling around each side of the tail.
Damage sustained in Carters Close amounted to £47 10s 10d.
Various expenses paid to men on Navigation business.

At a Meeting of the Committee held by Adjournment at the George Inn in Stroud on Thursday the 11^th Day of April 1776
Present: Joseph Wathen in the Chair, Anthony Keck, Robert Ellis, Benjamin Grazebrook, Thomas Baylis, Durley Wintle, John Hollings, Fream Arundell, James Winchcombe.
Read over the Minutes of the Last Meeting.
Ordered that M^r Hollings be desired to examine and Compare the Inventory of the Tools, etc, belonging to the Proprietors as given in by M^r Hall, with the Inventory taken by Jos: Grazebrook the 9^th Instant and also with the Inventory delivered at the Last General Meeting in 1775.
M^r Grazebrook Reported that he has Contracted with Griffith Cooper and John Wooley to bring the Stone from the Quarry in the Forrest and Deliver it at Newnham at 9^s/4^d per Ton and that the said Stone be measured by M^r Grazebrook.
Ordered That the several Proprietors of the Lands to be Purchased, be waited upon imediately by M^r Jos: Grazebrook to treat with them for the purchase of such Lands as will be wanted, and particularly in the first place that M^r Jepson and M^r Grazebrook do waite on M^r Jn^o Purnell of Dursley tomorrow to Settle with him the Price of the Lands necessary for the Navigation. ~~ That M^r Jepson do offer him 35 Years Purchase for his Lands at 30^S per Acrre and that the money be Tendered for the Purchase of it to the amount 39^£.
That the Chairman of the Committee be desired to write to Lord Middleton that the Proprietors of the Navigation will want to purchase about 4 Acres & half of his Land and that he will be so kind as to empower his Steward to treat for the Value of the Lands.
That some Person be agreed with as soon as possible to Secure the Framiload Lock by Piling around each side the Tail of the Lock.
Ordered that M^r Jepson be desired to Write to M^r Cambridge that we have it under Consideration to Cross his Mill Pond and make the Canal on the North Side of it, and what will be the Value of the Land on that Side of the River.
Read M^r Stocks Bill relating to the Damages sustained in Carters Close, etc, amounting to the Sum of £47,,11,,10. Ordered to remain on the file for further Consideration.
Read Mess^rs Lane and Jepson's Bill for Sundry attendance on the Nabivation business amounting to £469..3..0. Ordered to remain on the File for further Consideration.
Ordered that Joseph Pierce, Ben^n Fennel, W^m Clissold, W^m Beard, W^m Mayo, and Tho^s Lawrence be paid by Jos: Grazebrook half a Guinea per Week each for their Attendance in Town on the Navigation Business.
Ordered that W^m Dutton and Jn^o Gleaves be paid one Guinea each per Week for their attendance in Town.
Adjourn'd this Meeting to Thursday the 18 Instant at 5 oClock precisley at the George Inn in Stroud.
