Summary

Warrant granted against William Morris and he paid 10 guineas as a compromise of non-performance of his contract.
Wallbridge culvert needs repairing and securing by oak posts.
As no more bricks are needed at Wallbridge all hands needed to make bricks in Mrs Ball’s field near Bond’s Mill.
Company barge needs sheathing. Ordered it be sent to Broad Oak for repairs. Mr Lingard to hire barge to carry on work.
No vessel not laden with material for the locks at Chippenham Platt to be allowed beyond Bristol Road.
Mr Lingard and Mr Bough to go to Mr James land and fix the place for the fifth lock.

At a Meeting of the Committee held by Adjournment at the George Inn in Stroud on Thursday the 24^th day of July 1777
Present: Thomas Baylis, Robert Ellis, Joseph Wathen, Durley Wintle, James Winchcombe, Freame Arundell.
Read the Minutes of the last Meeting.
M^r Grazebrook Reported that M^r Keck had wrote to M^r Price relative to the forwarding the Scantlings of Timber for the Locks, and M^r Prices answer received that he is providing the same ~~~ and will be delivered soon as possible.
Ordered that J Grazebrook do go to M^r Price and inquire how far he has proceeded, and when may expect the Scantlings for the first Lock, and to quicken him in the execution, and at the same time to Order him to provide the Scantlings for the other three Locks.
Ordered that M^r Phllips's Land and Timber be measured.
M^r W^m Clutterbucks Land not yet paid for his Acc^t not being produced.
Ordered that M^r B: Grazebrook do waite on Henry Stephens Esq^r and acquaint him of the true State of the Trespass and the situation of the Bridge, and that M^r Wathen be desired to attend him.
Ordered that J Grazebrook do inform M^r Bough of the defect in the Culbert at Walbridge, and that it be repaired, and secured with Oak Posts as soon as possible.
The Committee mett the Rev^d M^r Pettat and settled with him the line where the Canal is to pass through the Church Yard.
The Articles of agreement between the Company and Mess^rs Bough and Edge have been read ~~ it is Ordered that the parties do attend at the next Meeting to Execute the same.
Agree'd with M^r Bigland for his Oak Timber to be delivered at Chippenhams Platt at 16^d per foot, if approved by M^r Bough.
Ordered that Mess^rs Bough, Lingard and Grazebrook do measure the Bridge and Stone Work at the Bristol Road, and the account thereof be settled and Paid.
The Whitmister Mill Pond is begun to be widened according to the order.
J Grazebrook produced an Acc^t of he State of each Brickmaker, as near as can as present be ascertained.
J Grazebrook Reported that a Warrant has been granted against W^m Morris, and that he had paid Ten Guineas as a compromise for his nonperformance of his Contract.
M^r Lingard having Reported that there is immediate want of Hay for the Horses; that he has purchased a Small Quantity for his Own use, which he has offered the Company at about the Sum of forty five Shillings.
Ordered that as there is no want of any more Brick to be made at Walbridge for some time, that Geo: Maskell do immediately sett all his Hands to Work in making of Bricks in M^rs Balls Land near Bonds Mill.
James Reed Administrator of Hester his late Wife deceased formerly Hester Pegler Spinster, made out his Claim to Tickett No: 105 as being her legal Representative.
Reported that there is an imediate necessity of Sheathing the Companys Barge. ~~ It is Ordered that it be sent to Broad Oak and Repaired under the inspection of Samuel Simmonds the Master and that J Grazebroook do go with him to treat for the same and that while the said Barge is repairing, it is Ordered that M^r Lingard do hire a Barge to carry on the works.
Agreed with M^r Ellis for his Hay when Rick'd for the Sum of Twenty five pounds, the Thatching included.
No Vessell but is laded with materials for the Locks at Chippenhams Platt, be admitted into the Canal on this side the Bristol Road, till ordered by the Committee.
M^r Lingard must see the Banks along Pool field cleared of Weeds and Thisles, and levell'd for use of the Occupiers of the said Land and that Morris's Brick Yard be levell'd and cleared of Bricks and Rubbish.
Ordered that Mess^rs Lingard and Bough do take the level of M^r James's Lands and fix the place where the fifth Lock shall be dug our for the Masons to lay the foundation.
Ordered a Bill to be drawn on the Treasurer for the sum of Two Hundred Pounds.
Ordered that M^r Beswick do attend the next Meeting to execute the articles of agreement.
Adjourned this Meeting to Thursday the 7^th day of August next at four o Clock in the afternoon at the George Inn in Stroud.
