Summary

Lingard ordered to give the height of every lock from Chippenham Platt to Nassfield. The Eastington lock is to rise 12ft.
Agreements reached for the purchase of land from Mr Dymock, Mr Knight, Richard Pettat and Mr Halliday, but not with Mr Stephens, Mrs Phelps or Mr Chance.
Lingard ordered to hang upper gates at Westfield, and turn the culverts.
Lingard ordered to survey the whole canal twice each week to ensure that work is carried out properly.

At a Meeting of the Committee held by Adjournment at the George Inn in Stroud on Thursday the 30^th day of October 1777
Present: Thomas Baylis, Fream Arundell, Robert Ellis, Thomas White, John Hollings, Benjamin Grazebrook, Durley Wintle, Richard Bigland.
Read the Minutes of the Last Meeting.
Ordered that M^r Lingard do give the height of every Lock from Chippenhams Platt to Nassfield ~~ when the Clerk will take the bill of Scantlings from Ben^n Pashley to M^r Keck for him to Send to M^r Price ~~ the Eastington Lock is to use Twelve feet and a half.
The Committee has agree'd to proposals from M^r Andrews, by M^r Dimock, for his Lands at 35 Years purchase at the present Rent, according to the Leases now in the hands of his Tennant Tho^s Rudge, and that Mess^rs Ellis, Hollings, Wintle, Arundell and White do sign an instrument to be drawn for that purpose.
M^r Grazebrook & Son Waited on M^rs Phelps who would Sign nothing relative to the purchase of those Lands in reversion on the Death of M^rs James. ~~ M^r Richard Stephens left to the Commissioners. ~~ M^r Richard Petttats terms is for the Whole piece £4 per Ann: at Thirty two years purchase.
M^r Knights terms is 35 years purchase at 40^s per Acre Agree'd to.
M^r Hallidays Land is agreed for at 30^s per Acre and 35 years purchase.
Mr Wiatt, and Mess^rs Cook & Hawker not Determined. ~~ M^r Chances terms delivered, but not agee'd to. ~~ Mess^rs Ellis and Grazebrook are desired to waite on Mess^rs Cook & Hawker with a Tender of money for their Lands in trust at the rate of 40^s oer Acre and 35 years purchase.
Enquire of M^r Lingard why the Gates on the Lock in Westfield are not hang'd according to order. ~~He is now ordered to hang the upper Gates instead of pile planks, and turn the Culverts. ~~ Ordered that he does survey the whole Canal to Framiload at least twice a Wek to see the orders immediately executed. ~~ M^r Lingard acknowledges that many of the posts bought of M^r Davis are not worth the money he agree'd to pay and shall be returned, or taken at less price.
M^r Grazebrook has been with M^r Lane, who has retained M^r Bearcroft.
M^r Stephens being from home, a Tender to be made to him tomorrow at Eastington.
Ordered that our Clerk do attend with M^r Lane or M^r Jepson to M^rs Ball to make her a Tender of he Money for all the Land Cut in the Canal and Towing path, give her an Opinion of the ACt, and the strongest assurances of the intention of the Committee to Stand to what is done, not withstanding all insinuations to the Contrary.
Ordered a Bill to be drawn on the Treasurer for the Sum of Three Hundred Pounds.
Adjourned this Meeting to Wednesday the 5^th day of November next at Four o Clock in the afternoon at the George Inn in Stroud.
