At a Meeting of the Committee held by Adjournment at the George Inn in Stroud on Tuesday the 26^th of September 1780
Present: Joseph Wathen, Thomas Baylis, John Hollings, Thomas White, James Dallaway, Nathaniel Jones, Fream Arundell, Ben^m Grazebrook.
Read the Minutes of the last Meeting.
Continued the Order relative to M^r Butchers Land.
Continued the Order relative to the Wall for enclosing the Wharf at Wallbridge.
M^r Chance attended but no Settlement could be made with him. Ordered that M^r Lane be desired to apply to M^r Chance again for an Abstract of the Title Deeds, in Order that a Conveyance may be mad of the Land sold to the Company, and to inform M^r Chance that in Case he do not produce the same in one Month that the Interest will cease.
Our Clerk Reported that he hath waited on M^r Halliday, who says that he will be at home to meet the Gentlemen any Day they shall appoint. Ordered that the Gentlemen deputed to Act in this Business be desired to meet M^r Halliday on Friday Morning next Ten o'Clock.
Rece'd two Letters from Mess^rs Lane & Jepson informing us that the Meeting of the Refferees for settling M^r Balls Business must be fix'd either his day or tomorrow; in consequence of which Our Clerk hath been to Oselworth after M^r Smith and he being from home the Business must be defferr'd until his return. And M^r Lane hath been informed of the same.
Our Clerk Reported that M^r Pettat hath inform'd him of Doctor Sandford being taken dangerously Ill, which have prevented the Deed being executed.
Our Clerk Reported that M^r Knight is from home. Ordered that he be waited on when he returns.
Our Clerk Reported that he hath wrote to Mess^rs Lane & Jepson agreeable to the Order of last Meeting.
Rece'd a Letter from M^r Keck recommending that no Vessells do pass the Double Lock for at least one Month. Ordered that a Letter agree'd upon this Evening be wrote to M^r Keck by our Clerk in Reply and that M^r Kecks Letter together with a Copy of the Reply be filed.
Ordered that the Tail of the Lock next Wallbridge be immediately Sheeted.
Ordered that Mess^rs Hollings, Dallaway & Grazebrook be deputed to treat and agree with George Lodge for taking care of the Locks.
Ordered the General half Yearly Meeting of the Proprietors of the Navigation to be held on Thursday the 26^th of October next at the George Inn in Stroud and that the same be advertised in the Glocester Journal the two preceeding Weeks.
Adjourn'd this Meeting to Thursday the 5^th of October next at Ten o'Clock in the forenoon at the George Inn in Stroud.
