Summary

Mr Chambers has applied to the Company to rent the Island at Easton.
Mr Manning has valued Mr Keene’s work. Mr Keene agreed to the sum.
Ben Pashley to be asked contract to repair the timber work of Nassfield Lock.
A letter to be written by the clerk to Sir Edward Littleton informing him of the practicality of a Junction with the Thames.

At a Meeting of the Committee held this 26^th Day of April 1781 at the George Inn in Stroud
Present: Joseph Wathen, Thomas Baylis, John Hollings, Nataniel Jones, Fream Arundell, Ben^m Grazebrook.
Read the Minutes of the last General and Committee Meeting.
M^r Grazebrook Reported that he hath mark'd out the Land of M^r Butchers and the same is measured for 20 Perches. M^r Butcher not attending, Ordered that our Clerk do waite on him and make him an Offer of £12..2..6 for the said Land with the Trees growing on the same, freed and discharged from all Taxes Rates and Impositions whatsoever, and to take a proper discharge for the same.
Continued the Order relative to the Wall for enclosing the Wharf at Wallbridge.
Our Clerk Reported that he hath measured M^r Hallidays Land and fount to be 0^A 1^R 4^P. Ordered that M^r Halliday be desired to attend the next Meeting.
Ordered that M^r Merrett be wrote to, desiring he will finish the Plan of the Canal as soon as Possible.
Ordered that our Clerk do desire Mess^rs Lane & Jepson to write to M^r W^m King to desire he will imediately settle with the Company for the Stone he hath taken without our Consent or that he will be proceeded against without further ceremony.
Continued the Order relative to the Wear for taking the Water from the Stonehouse Levell.
Ordered that the Stays at the Swivell Bridges be better secured.
No Tennant is yet procured for the bit of Land on the lower side of Ryford Bridge.
Our Clerk Reported that he hath applied to M^r Chambers relative to his Renting the Island at Easton, and he hath promised to give an answer what he will give per Annum for the same.
Our Clerk Reported that he have applied to the Rev^d M^r Selwin in Order to Pay him his Tythes, when M^r Selwin inform'd him that M^r W^m King is entituled to receive the same.
Continued the Order for Repairing the Road at Nastend.
M^r Manning hath attended and Valued such of M^r Keens work as was Objected to bey the Committee, which Valuation M^r Keene agrees to.
Ordered a Bill to be drawn on the Treasurer for the Sum of Eleven hundred and Fifty one Pounds Sixteen Shilling and one penny.
Ordered that Ben^n Pashley do attend Mess^rs Hollings, Dallaway and Grazebrook to Contract for doing the Timber Work for the Repair of the Nassfield Lock.
Ordered that a Letter be wrote by our Clerk to Sir Ew^d Littleton informing of the Practicability of a Junction with the Thames and that a Copy of the same be preserved.
Adjourned this Meeting to Thursday the 24^th of May next at Five o'Clock in the afternoon at the George Inn in Stroud.
