At a Special Meeting of the Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the George Inn in Stroud on Tuesday the 12^th of November 1782 in pursuance of an Order of the last General Meeting and Circular Letters sent to all the Proprietors
Joseph Wathen in the Chair.
Our Clerk produced several Letters from the respective Proprietors, by which it appears that Eighteen of the Absentees do agree to the measure proposed at the last General Meeting for an advance upon the Shares for the purpose of paying off the Debts. And it likewise appears that near Forty of the absent Proprietors have not signified there Opinion respecting the same, by Letters of otherwise. In consequence of which no resolution could be formed by those who were present, Viz:
Joseph Wathen, John Hollings, James Dallawy, Fream Arundell, Thomas Baylis, Richard Bigland, Nathaniel Jones, William Ellis, John Colborne, Obadiah Paul, Richard Farmer, Tho^s Crozier Arundell, Richard Gabb, William Sevill Jun, John Butt, Rowles Scudamore.
