Summary

The clerk reported that Mr Organ on Mr Cambridge’s behalf has asked surrounding landowners to join with him in cleansing the mud from the canal if the rien ditch is opened. But they chose not to join in the expense of cleansing it.
Benjamin Pashley (lock keeper) died yesterday. Another lock keeper is to be found.
The Petition for the Bill for making the intended Junction has been presented and Parliament gave leave to bring in a Bill. Messrs Hollings and Colborne to set out to London to help form those clauses of the Bill that will affect the Stroudwater Canal, They are to employ Counsel when necessary during the progress of the business.
The public road on the towing path is to be stopped for a short time to preserve the right of the Company.

At a Meeting of the Committee held by Adjournment at the George Inn in Stroud on Monday the 10^th of February 1783
Present: Joseph Wathen, Nathaniel Winchcombe, John Hollings, John Allaway, James Dallaway, Nathaniel Jones, Thomas White, Richard Bigland, Fream Arundell.
Read the Minutes of the last Committee Meeting.
Our Clerk Reported that he hath applied to Mess^rs Lane & Jepson, and a Day was fix'd for settling M^r James's Business, but M^r James being Ill, prevented its being done, therefore it was postponed to a future Day.
Notice has been given to M^r Samuel Arundell, and teo M^r William Robinson, agreeable to the order of last Meeting.
Our Clerk Reported that he hath seen M^r Organ, on M^r Cambridges Business, and M^r Organ hath waited upon the several Land owners to know if they will join with M^r Cambridge in clearing the Mud that may be brought into the Canal if the Rien DItch is opened, but they do not chuse to Join in the expence of cleaning it. ~~ Our Clerk hath inform'd M^r Cambridge of the same.
Our Clerk Reported that he hath settled with M^r Purnell for his small parcel of Land and Damages.
Our Clerk Reported that Ben^n Pashley (one of the Lock keepers) dies Yesterday. Ordered that an enquiry be made after another Person to succeed him.
The Petition for a Bill for making the intended Junction having been presented, and leave given by Parliament for bringing in such Bill, It is agree'd that Mess^rs Hollings & Colborne do sett out for London in the course of this week in order to attend framing such clauses of the said Bill as may in any degree affect the Stroudwater Canal, and to attend to the proposals made at the General Meeting of the 29^th January las. And We do hereby Authorise and desire the above named Gentlemen to Consult and employ Counsill as often as they shall see necessary during the whole progress of the Business.
Ordered that Letters be wrote to the County Members, signed by the Chairman, recommending the Interest of the Proprietors to their Attention, and to inform them that the above Gentlemen are deputed to waite on them.
Ordered that Notice be given to M^r Samuel Clutterbuck that his Loan of £500 to the Company will be paid off at the expiration of Six Months.
Ordered that it be taken into Consideration at the next General Meeting to stop the Publick Road on the Towing Path for a short time, in order to preserve the Right of the Company.
Adjourn'd this Meeting to Monday the 17^th Instant at four o'Clock in the afternoon at the Geroge Inn in Stroud.
