At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held this 16^th Day of November 1786 at the George Inn in Stroud
Present: Nathaniel Winchcombe, John Colborne, John Hollings, Ben^n Grazebrook, John Allaway.
Read the Minutes of the last Committee Meeting & also of the General Meeting.
Charles Freebury of Stroud in the County of Gloucester Baker attended & made out his Claim to three Shares NO 149, 150 & 151 in the Stroudwater Navigation late the property of Samuel Arundell of Stroud aforesaid Clothier deceased by producing the Probate of his Will Whereby it appears the residium of his Personal Estate is given to his Nieces Sarah Freebury, Elizabeth Willis, Ann Arundell & Jane Arundell Shae and Share alike & did Constitue & appoint John Arundell & the said Charles Freebury Joint Executors as appears by the Probate of the said WIll proved in the perogative Court of the Archbishop of Canterbury by the said Charled Freebury alone. And the said Claim is hereby admitted.
William Wathen of Stroud in the County of Glocester Clothier attended on behalf o M^rs Ann Wathen Widow of the late Joseph Wathen of Stroud aforesaid Esq^r deceased & made out her Claim for five Shares No 17, 18, 19. 20 & 21 in the Stoudwater Navigation late the property of the said Joseph Wathen deceased by producing the Probate of his Will Whereby it appears that the residium of his Personal Estate is given to the said Ann Wathen and did Constitute and appoint toe said Ann Wathen sole Executrix as appears by the Probate of the said Will proved in the Perogative Court of the Archbishop of Canterbury by the said Ann Wathen. And the said Claim is hereby admitted.
Our Clerk Reported that he has not yet received any answer from M^r Hawker of M^r Barnard.
Ordered a Bill to be drawn on the Treasuere for the Sum of Four hundred & Eight Pounds Seventeen Shillings and Tenpence for the use of the Navigation.
Ordered that our Clerk do waite upon Mess^rs Lane & Whitcombe & report to them the present state of the Double Lock, desiring their opinion whether the late Tryal with M^r Keck has in any degree affected his original Contract.
Ordered that our Clerk do desire Mess^rs Lane & Whitcombe to proceed immediately in the Business with the Successors of the late M^r Knight in order to bring the matter to a final Issue.
Rece'd a Letter from the Stourport Coal Committee respecting their landing Coals on or Wharfs & having Credit for the Tonnage of the same till sold.
Ordered that our Clerk do inform them that We will give them Credit for the Tonnage & Wharfage of what Coals they thing proper to land on our Wharfs provided that the same is paid before the Stacks are broke.
Adjourned this Meeting to Thursday the 1^st of February next at Eleven O'Clock in the forenoon at the Geogre Inn in Stroud.
