Summary

General Half Yearly Meeting. Tonnage £835 11s 9½d. Balance after paying wages, etc, £620 9s 2½d. Dividend of £3 15s declared.
Mr Ben Grazebrook to pay £25 tonnage for his barges on canal for half a year.
Mr Colborne resigned as Treasurer. Unanimous thanks given him. Messrs Hollings & Co appointed Treasurers.
Unanimous thanks of meeting to Clerk Mr Joseph on his resignation of the post. The appointments of Mr Baylis and Mr Haine as Clerks was confirmed.

At a General Half Yearly Meeting of the Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation held this Eigth day of April 1788 at the Georg Inn in Stroud
Nath^l Winchcombe Esq^r in the Chair.
The Minutes of the last General Meeting were Read and Confirmed.
The several Books & Accounts were produced respecting the affairs of the Company (as directed by the Act of Parliament) & Examined & confirmed.
It appears by the accounts that the Sum of £835-11-9½ have been received for Tonnage from the 9^th of Oct^r last to this day a part of which have been applied towards payment of the last half year Dividend other part thereof in the payment of Debts, wages, etc, there remains a Ballance in the Treasurers hands of £620-9-2½. Ordered that a Dividend of £3-15 be made on each share to be paid by the Treasurer on the first day of June next, And that our Clerk do transmit circular Letters to those Proprietors who are absent from this Meeting to inform them that they may draw upon the Treasurer or apply to him for payment of y^e same.
Agreed that M^r Ben^n Grazebrooks Barges to & from Glocester & Bristol do pass & repass the Canal till the next half yearly Meeting in consideration of his paying £25 for Tonnage & warfage during that time.
The Committee having Reported that they have made an application to the Committee of the Thames & Severn Canal respecting their selling Coals who in consequence have made an order which appears to have the desired Effect.
M^r Colborne having signified his resignation of the Office of Treasurer, Resolved unanimously that the gratefull thanks of this meeting be given him for the very important & repeated Obligations he has conferr'd on the Company & that the Chairman be requested to transmit a Cop of this Resolution to him.
Resolved that Mess^rs Hollings & Co be & they are hereby appointed the Succeding Treasurers & we do desire M^r Jn^o Colborne to pay the Ballance into their hands and take their discharge for the same.
M^r Joseph Grazebrook having resigned the Office of Clerk to this Company, Resolved unanimously that the Thanks of this Meeting be given him for his great punctuality & Integrity in the discharge of the same.
Resolved that we do confirm the Order of the Committee respecting the appointment of M^r Baylis and M^r Hains as our Clerks.
The following Gentlemen are appointed a Committee for the ensuing year, Viz;
Sir Geo: Paul, John Hollings, Nathaniel Winchcombe, W^m Battersby, Jos: Cripps, Jos: Harford, Edward Harford, Hen^ry Burgh, Rich^d Bigland, Ben Grazebrook, John Allaway. Tho^s C. Arundell, John Colborne.
