Summary

Mr Gubbins completed contract.

Herbage of piece of land at Stonehouse let to Mr Vaisey at 10s 6d per annum.
Mr Hollings and Mr Burgh reported on meeting of promoters of Gloucester & Berkeley Canal. No infringement on rights of Stroud Canal should be attempted. Will to admit any clause into act framed.
Two letters from Messrs Battersby and Harford respecting intended canal.
General Meeting to be held to consider Bill.
Old rails taken down at basin at Wallbridge to form fence of canal at narrow part at Ryeford Mill.

At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the George Inn in Stroud this 28^th day of February 1793
Present: Nathaniel Winchcombe, John Allaway, John Hollings, Jos^h Grazebrook, Henry Burgh.
Read the Minutes of the last Meeting.
John Gubbins has completed his Contract agreeable to his proposals at last Meeting.
The Lockmen have begun filling up the Bason at Walbridge and will continue it at their Leasure time till it is compleated.
The Stone for the Repairs is dug and will be brought down the first Opportunity.
Continued the Order for filling up the Saw Pitt at C Platt.
The Herbage of the Piece of Land at Stonehosue is let to M^r Paisey at 10/6 per Ann^m.
M^r Hollings and M^r Burgh Reported that they attended a Meeting of the Promoters of the Glocester and Berkeley Canal at Glocester, when it was agreed by them that no infringement on the Rights of the Stroud Canal should be attempted, and it has been since proposed by them to admit any Clause into their Act which we may frame for that purpose.
Read two Letters from Mess^rs Battersby & Harfords respecting the intended Canal from Glocester to Berkeley, to which this Committee have given answers.
Resolved that a General Meeting of the Proprietors of this Navigation is necessary to take into Consideration a Bill now pending in Parliament for making the Glocester & Berkeley Canal and to take proper measures to insert such Clause in the Act as may effectively guard our Rights.
Ordered that our Clerk do Advertize such Meeting in the Glocester Journal to be held at the George Inn in Stroud on Thursday the 7^th March next at Eleven o'Clock in the forenoon & that he do transmit Circular Letters to those Proprietors residing out of the Country informing them of the same.
Ordered that the Old Rails when taken down at the Bason at Walbridge be put up to fence the Canal at the narrow part at Ryford Mill.
Adjourn'd this Meeting to Thursday the 7^th March next at Eleven o'Clock in the forenoon at the George Inn in Stroud.
