New boat for conveyance of materials to be built by Company carpenters.
Mr Richard White complained of loss of 54 gallons of porter, stolen from 2 casks in Company warehouse at Framilode. 2 guineas to be paid to him.
Under clerk William Smith for some time indisposed and incapable of fulfilling his duties. Thomas Beard to receive tonnage on lower district of canal and perform duties of under clerk during William Smith's illness or until another order of Committee.
At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Walbridge on Wednesday the 21^st of Nov^r 1798 - 3pm
Present: Sam^l Wathen, Nath^l Jones, Rev^d Jos^h Colborne, Nath Wathen, Jn^o Allaway, Benj^n Grazebrooke, Ew^d Wood, Jos^h Grazebrooke. Rowles Scudamore.
Read the Minutes of the last Meeting.
Continued the Order respecting the Boat House, and the Shed at Tho^s Lewis's House.
The Boat that has hitherto been made use of for the Conveyance of Materials for the repairs of the Canal having been reported to be entirely worn out, Ordered that a New Boat for the purpose before mentioned be build by the Carpenters of the Company in the course of the ensuing Spring.
M^r Rich^d White attended complaining of the Loss of Fifty four Gallons of Porter the chief part of which had been stole from two Casks while in the Companys Warehouse at Framiload. Ordered that two Guineas be forthwith paid to M^r Rich^d White in satisfaction of his demand. It being reported that our under Clerk M^r Smith has been for some time indisposed and rendered incapable of fulfilling the duties of his Office, Ordered that Tho^s Beard do receive Tonnage on the lower district of the Canal and perform in other respected the duties of the Situation of under Clerk during the continuance of M^r Smith's illness or untill another Order of the Committee shall have been made.
Adjourned this Meeting to Wednesday the 2^nd of Jan^y next at the Committee room at Walbridge at 3 o'Clock in the afternoon.
