Summary

William Smith, under Clerk to Company, to be dismissed from office from 1 March.
William Pavey in place of William Smith on same terms, £32 per year, plus tenement and garden.
Vessels navigating downwards on canal in early part of Spring tides are being obstructed during any part of Sunday. Frequently neaped and lost tides. All vessels permitted to navigate canal downwards on certain Sundays till 10 o'clock in morning and after 4 o'clock in afternoon.

At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee room at Walbridge on Wednesday the 2^nd of Jan 1799
Present: J I Wathen, Nath^l Wathen, Rev^d J Colborne, Jos^h Grazebrooke, Benj Grazebrooke, Ew^d Wood.
Read the Minutes of the last Meeting.
Continued the Order respecting the Boat House and the Shed at Tho^s Lewis's House, as well as for the building of the Boat agreeable to the order of the last meeting.
Ordered that Will^m Smith the under Clerk of the Company be dismissed from his Office from and after the first day of March next ensuing and that our Clerk do give him immediate Notice of this order.
W^m Pavey having attended to offer himself as under Clerk in the place of W^m Smith, and upon the same terms, Viz: Thirty two Pounds per Year with a Tenement and Garden, he was informed he would be taken into the Companys service on the first day of March next ensuing.
Complaints having been made of great inconveniences being sustained by the occasion of Vessells Navigation downwards upon the Canal in the early part of the Spring Tides being obstructed from passing down the Canal during any part of the Sunday, which Vessells have frequently been Neaped and lost their Tides, It is Ordered that it shall be permitted for all Vessells to Navigate the Canal going downwards on the following Sundays, Viz: 6^th, 29^th Jan, 3^rd Feb, 3^th, 19^th May, 2^nd and 16^th June, 15^th and 29^th Sep, 15^th, 27^th Octo^r, 10^th Nov. Also Feb 24^th, March 3^rd, 24^th, Ap^l 7^th, 21^st, JUne 20^th, July 14^th, Aug^t 4^th, 18^th, Sep^t 1^st, Nov 24^th, Dec^r 15^th, 28^th during the present year, till the hours of ten o Clock in the forenoon and after the hour of 4 o Clock in the afternoon. Adjourned this Meeting to Wedesday the 13^th of Feb next at 3 o Clock in the afternoon at the Committee room at Walbridge.
