Special meeting of committee with Mr Waring to discuss Capt Clegram’s award. The Committee resolved to accept the crane in its present state and pay Messrs. Waring £126 10s instead of the original tender of £165.
At a Special Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Tuesday the 4th day of January 1848
Present: M^r Dan Watts, M^r G H A Beard Chairman, Hen Sikes, T C Croome, W^m Fryer, W^m Jn^o Wood, Jn^o Holbrow.
M^r Tho^s Waring on behalf of himself and his partner attended and in reference to the erection of the new Crane at Dudbridge and the removal of he old Crane from thence to Wallbridge and to the award of Capt Clegram proposed that this Company should pay the sum of £135 instead of £165 the amount of the original tender out of which Mess^rs Waring Brothers will also have to pay 7..17..6 the moiety of the expenses of the award as ordered by Capt Clegram and 12/6 for a Copy of the agreement as required by them, leaving the sum of £126..10 to be paid by them. That this Company should take to the Crane in its present state and that the Award should not further be proceeded in.
The above proposal having been taken into consideration it was Resolved to accept it and to pay Mess^rs Waring Brothers the said sum of £126..10 and a Cheque was drawn and paid to them accordingly.
