At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 20th Sept 1848
Present: M^r Hen^y Sikes, M^r Cha^s Hooper Chairman, Fred^k Eycott, Will^m Fryer, Jn^o H Warman, Rich^d Martin, Hen^y G A Beard, Tho^s C Croome.
M^r Croome reported that he had communicated with the County of Glocester Bank who proposed that M^r S C Hallewell should be appointed Treasurer and he name M^r Watts as his Surety.
M^r Hawker and M^r Croome reported that they had see M^r Willson on behalf of the Thames and Severn Canal in reference to M^r Smith's proposal for carriage of Coal for the trade of the Great Western Railway Company and had proposed to him that the division of the Tonnage between this Company and the Thames and Severn Canal Company should be 8^d for this Navigation for 8 Miles and 7^d to the Thames and Severn Canal Company, being fourpence for 4 Miles, Twopence for Wharfage and One penny for Water, which they considered fair and M^r Willson promised to communicated with his Committee and send an answer which has not yet been received but it was agreed that the Coals should be carried in the meantime so far as M^r Smith was concerned.
Resolved That in future the Ordinary Meetings of the Committee be called for 12 O'Clock at Noon instead of 1 PM.
Resolved that the next General Half Yearly Meeting of the Company of Proprietors of this Navigation be held on Wednesday the 25th October at 2 O'Clock at this office and be advertised as usual.
