Shares in Company accepted for transfer:
Mary Williams and Harriet Williams claimed share no.10, will of Catherine Williams;
William Bevan and Sarah Davis claimed share no.61, will of Nathaniel Edgecombe;
Margaret Nugent Jones, James Talbot the Younger, John Aldridge claimed shares nos.132,191,195, will of Thomas Jones, and shares nos.98,5,6,93,127,68 held in trust for Mrs Frances Ann Shaw by Thomas Jones.
At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 17th day of January 1849
Present: M^r Hen^y SIkes, M^r Jn^o Holbrow Chairman, G H A Beard, Will^m Fryer, Tho^s C Croome, Cha^s H Fisher, J H Warman.
M^r Cha^s Hawker of Wallbridge attende don the part of Mary WIlliams and Harriet Williams of N^o 3 Belgrave Street Chester Square in the County of Middlesex Executrixes named and appointed in and by the last Will and Testament of the late Catherine Williams of Chalk Farm in the County of Kent Widow, deceased and made out their claim to one Share N^o 10 in the Stroudwater Navigation lately belonging to and now standing in the name of the said Catherine Williams in the books of the Company of Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation, by producing the original Ticket or Title to the said Share and the Probate of the Will of the said Catherine Williams bearing date the 21st day of July 1845 Whereby the said Catherine Williams appointed the said Mary Williams and Harriet Williams Executrixes of the said Will and which Will was duly proved by the said Mary Williams and Harriet Williams in the Prerogative Court of the Archbishop of Canterbury on the 15th day of December 1848 And by producing and leaving with the Clerk a written Authority under the Hands of the said Mary Williams and Harriet Williams to the said share is allowed accordingly and the Clerk and Treasurer are requested to make out a new Ticket for the said Mary Williams and Harriet Williams.
M^r Thomas Clutterbuck Croome of Cainscross attended on the part of William Bevan of Horfield Road in the City of Bristol, Gentleman and Sarah Davis Widow the acting Executor and Executrix of Nathaniel Edgecumbe of the City of Bristol Gentleman and made out the Claim of the said William Bevan and Sarah David to one share N^o 61 of the Undertaking of the Stroudwater Navigation lately belonging to and now standing in the name of the said Nathaniel Edgecumbe in the books of the Company of Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation by producing the original Ticket or Title to the said Share and the Probate of the Will of the said Nathaniel Edgecumbe bearing date the 25th day of January 1847 whereby the said Nathaniel Edgecumbe appointed the said William Bevan, Joseph Townsend of the parish of Clifton Accountant and the said Sarah Davis Trustees and Executrix of the said Will which (with Codicil) was duly proved in the Prerogative Court of the Archbishop of Canterbury by the said William Bevan and Sarah Davis alone on the 9th day of September 1848 the said Joseph Townsend having previously renounced Probate and Execution of the said Will. And the said Thomas Clutterbuck Croome produced and left with the Clerk a written authority under the hands of the said William Bevan and Sarah Davis authorising the said Thomas Clutterbuck Croome to make the said claim on their behalf and the Claim of the said William Bevan and Sarah Davis to the said Share is allowed accordingly and the Clerk and Treasurer are requested to make out a new Ticket for the said William Bevan and Sarah Davis.
Charles Edward Ward of the City of Bristol Gentleman attended on the part of Margaret Nugent Jones of Charterhouse Hinton in the County of Somerset Widow, James Talbot the Younger of Harewood Square in the County of Middlesex Esquire and John Aldridge of the Inner Temple in the City of London Barrister at Law the acting Executrix and Executors of Thomas Jones late of Charterhouse Hinton aforesaid Esquire deceased and made out the Claim of the said Margaret Nugent Jones, James Talbot the Younger and John Aldridge to Three Shares N^o 132, 191 & 195 of the Undertaking of the Stroudwater Navigation lately belonging to and now standing in the name of the said Thomas Jones in the books of the Company of Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation and also to Six other Shares N^os 98, 5, 6, 93, 127 & 68 of the Undertaking of the Stroudwater Navigation lately standing in the name of the said Thomas Jones in trust for M^rs Frances Ann Shaw in the books of the Company of Proprietors of the Stroudwater Navigation by producing the Probate of the Will of the said Thomas Jones bearing date the 28th day January 1848 whereby the said Thomas Jones appointed the said Margaret Nugent Jones his Wife, his brother in Law Robert Newton Shaw Esquire and James Talbot and John Aldridge Executrix and Executors of the said Will and by producing evidence to the satisfaction of this Committee that the original Tickets and Titles to the said several shares has been lost. Which proof consisted of three statutory Declarations of searches among the papers and of examination of all places of security and Deposit of Documents of the said Thomas Jones and of the belief of the said Executrix and Executors and other Declarations that the said Tickets or Certificates had been lost. And the said Will of the said Thomas Jones was duly proved in the Prerogative Court of the Archbishop of Canterbury on the 21st day of June 1848 by the said Margaret Nugent Jones, James Talbot the Younger and John Aldridge the said Robert Newton Shaw one of the said Executors having previously renounced Probate and Execution of the said Will. And the said Charles Edward Ward produced and left with the Clerk a written authority under the hand of the said Margaret Nugent Jones, James Talbot the Younger and John Aldridge authorising the said Charles Edward Ward to make the said Claim on their behalf and the Claim of the said Margaret Nugent Jones, James Talbot the Younger and John Aldridge to the said Shares was allowed accordingly.
The Conveyance by way of Enfranchisement of the Company's Houses Wharfs and Premises at Wallbridge enrolled with the Clerk of the Peace was produced and ordered to be deposited amongst the Deeds and Documents of the Company and a Cheque was given for £26..7..10 being £15 consideration mone and £11..7..10 for Expences.
