Summary

Proposal by Mr Joshua Smith and Brewin and Sons of Cirencester that a reduction should be made on tonnage on coals, following a reduction made by GWR from Gloucester to Cirencester. However coal trade appears to have increased.
Mr Biddle to be allowed to replace the fence between the Company’s garden and his mill yard with a good wall.

At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 19th day of December 1849
Present: M^r Hen^y Sikes, M^r Rich^d Martin Chairman, J H Warman, Fred^k Eycott, Will^m Fryer, Tho^s C Croome, G H A Beard, Cha^s Hooper.
Letters were produced and read from M^r Jos^h Smith and Mess^rs Brewin & Sons of Cirencester explaining that in consequence of a reduction in the Tonnage on Coals charged by the Great Western Railway Company from Glocester to Cirencester a large increase of the quantity of Coals carried by the Railway has taken place and recommending that a reduction on the tonnage charged by this Company and the Thames & Severn Canal Company should be made and M^r Willson having attended and discussed the question with the Committee,
It was resolved to postpone the further consideration of the subject for the present because it appears that notwithstanding the statement made by the above mentioned letters the Coal trade to Cirencester has increased.
M^r Biddle having attended and stated that he had bought the Mill lately belonging to Mess^rs Watts and being desirous to vary the Fence between the Company's Garden and the Yard of the Mill, the Committee viewed the line of Pegs which M^r Biddle had put up it was,
Resolved that M^R Biddle be allowed to remove the Company's Fence accordingly on his building a good Wall of the same description as the present wall from the Corner of the Stable to the extremity of the Company's Land adjoining the Garden late M^r Watts to which M^r Biddle asserted.
Resolved that such of the Trees as are needful for the building of the Wall to be removed.
Resolved that the following Bills and Accounts be paid:
