At a Meeting of the Committee of the Stroudwater Navigation held at the Committee Room at Wallbridge on Wednesday the 7th day of May 1851
Present: M^r Jn^o H Warman, M^r Cha^s H Fisher, Will^m Fryer, Cha^s Hooper, Fred^k Eycott, Tho^s C Croome, Rich^d Martin, Hen^y Harris.
The probability of competition in the Carriage of Coals from Bullo Pill and Lydney by the expected opening of the South Wales and Forest of Dean Railways was taken into consideration and in was Resolved that a Meeting be proposed between this Committee and the Committee of the Thames and Severn Canal Company to discuss the position of the two Canals with a view to an arrangement for allowing the Tolls on both Canals if it be found needful to do so in order to secure the continued carriage of Coals by the two Companies.
Resolved that the above Resolution be communicated to the Committee of the Thames & Severn Canal Company and that they be requested to fix an early day for a meeting with this Committee.
Resolved that M^r Hawker do call a Meeting of this Committee as soon as he receives and answer from the Committee of the Thames & Severn Canal Company.
Resolved that the Annual Stoppage of this Navigation for Repairs be commenced on Thursday the 19th June next and continue to Saturday the 28th June both days inclusive.
Resolved that One Quarters Salary £25..-..- be paid to M^r Hawker.
